No. Can you please restate the question?

Sorry I ment in the mass why do we “offer” things ?
And what I ment I’d that in bible times the jews offered the sacrifice of animals to god etc and I read that we wernt ment to do offerings anymore or somthing ?

Hi Chuck.

We don’t offer things anymore because Jesus did that for us.

BUT the big thing with the Catholic Mass is, that it is the VERY SAME offering of Jesus. Not ‘again’, but in a mysterious and wonderful way, each sacrifice of the Mass is both the Last Supper of Christ, and His suffering and death (and resurrection). . .and we are there with Him. At every Mass, all around the world, every single day, for some 2000 years, each time we participate in that ONE sacrifice of Jesus Christ, once for all, ever and ever.

THAT is the offering the priest makes for us and which we offer to God. . .the sacrifice of His son for us. And then we participate in His death and resurrection, when we eat the Bread (His Body) and drink the wine (His Blood), which are His Soul and Divinity, through which we will have His life within us. At every Mass we participate with Christ and then we receive Him! It is the greatest miracle and gift you can imagine.

Or my understanding was you wernt ment to offer things to god in mass anymore not in the money offering I mean other offer anything in that way to god anymore because we don’t need to ?

Oh I see what you mean now but how do we participate in that one sacrifice or what do u mean by the sacrifice of the mass and how is it the same ?

The Mass is the same sacrifice as Calvary, offered up in space and time so we can enter into the Once for all sacrifice of Our Lord.

Some people misunderstand and think Jesus is being offered up over and over again by Catholics.

Hi Chuck. Thanks for clearing that up. I thought that might be what you meant, and I see that others have explained the sacrifice of the Mass quite well. Keep asking questions. The more you ask the more you know!

In the Years when Jesus was hear, they would offer Sactifices, but today we give Thanks but, putting something in the POOR BOX, to help others in need,or we give to Missioniars
to help the Poor that they work with. Jesus is very please when we give to help.Remember what Jesus said; “The least you do for my,other, you do for me.” You must want to do it from your Heart, for everthing that we do, counts in our LIFE BOOK, that is written in Heaven. So do what you can know before your called Home to GOD.s Kingdom, Amen
