Offerings

In 2 Samuel David offered water to God. I was wondering why this isn’t a thing in the church. Also, people tend to offer flowers to Mary; can you offer things at grottos or shrines such as rosaries or other religious items?

I would think that offering water to God in the dessert would be the most valuable offering one could make as it would-could be the difference between life and death. If it is all you have and it is most the most precious to you, I think of “The Widow’s Mite.” In Lourds in France all kinds of things are offered to the Holy Mother. Interested in other replies.
