Baking the cake went against their beliefs. So they did not bake the cake.
Breaking the law and discriminating against people, it seems, does not go against their beliefs. So now they must pay the consequences of that.
Naturally, it is their right to appeal…and it is their right to refuse to adhere to their court sentencing.
But they should not be surprised, then, if officials “move to take their home” (though I can’t find any other news article that says this is happening, so it sounds like an exaggeration by the biased publication…).

And, they should not ask people for money and take money from people to pay these fees, if that is what they did, and then not pay the fees.

And they should not claim that they are suffering “financial hardship”–as they did last week-- when they’ve been given what now amounts to ***a half a million dollars ***in donations to use as they need.

I agree that the amount of penalty is hefty. But I also agree that what the bakers did to the couple in public, beyond the cake issue, was horrid.

.
I look forward to your opinion when they are asked to bake a cake with a swastika on it. Should they have a house taken away because a Nazi wanted to feel good inside?

There would be nothing impolite in presenting facts to support your assertion. Though maybe derailing the thread could count, then again this breach could be avoided by starting a thread on the subject.
Islam is a religion of pieces, ask any ISIS representative. But, don’t head them off too far down the path that might lead to a new boot sector.

If you have a debt pay it. This is a simple biblical principle. Maybe knowing what the bible teaches even on matters that you disagree with it on is lost concept on some. Either that or I am misinterpreting the verse where Jesus says “if someone sues you for your cloak given them your tunic as well”(not direct quote). They have the money, but they are just refusing to pay it, and I am supposed to feel bad for them. If your problem is with them owing the lesbian couple damages I understand and empathize with this. Maybe we change the current legal precedence for this, but until then the government/lesbian couple has every right to pursue obtaining their money. My knowledge of the law is extremely limited but I would assume that if the decision is overturned that they would get their money back.

This is seriously almost as bad publicity for christians as when that women refusing to sign marriage licenses because she didn’t understand what power her office actually affords her. As some of my friends would say these kind of actions not only hurt these people’s witness but all christian’s witness.
The governor is removing the Clerk of Courts seal requirement from the documents. Perhaps you have no understanding of what it means to witness to a testimonial?

The sanctity of marriage is continuing to decay along that path Pope Paul VI identified in Humanae Vitae. Perhaps not understanding what swearing an oath nor how convenant relationships are formed in a created world, a world created by God, is part of the reason for this continuing decay? What would Pierpont have said; for a good old American pollster answer?

Do you think unisex showers in High Schools will improve the joy of a chaste couple by redesigning the signals that form imprinting on the human psyche? It may be that you believe this could be a good thing because human persons have not a soul? My guess is that you have never given the matter of chaste marriage that much thought. Have you?
