My husband is the clergy rep for his assignment’s worship council.
He had to miss last month’s because it conflicted with a baptism prep class. He got his minutes on Saturday, and they snuck this by him:

“The GIRM is meant as a suggestion guide, not a requirement.”

I wish I could go to that next meeting with him…

Oh my! In this particular Archdiocese, it is no wonder some might think this way due to the lack of Catechesis on the GIRM.

My prayers are (still) with your husband and the parish to which he is assigned!

Thank you, Michael. 🙂

There were a series of discussions on the implementation of the GIRM at St. John’s Center a couple of months before Advent. The place was packed to the gills with priests. I guess that was where the catechesis ended. 😦

I hope he slips in how the GIRM is is a requirement not a suggestion guide at the next meeting.
Or let them know theres a mistake in the minutes 👍

He’s already at it with a yellow highlighter. Those folks do not know who they’re tussling with! 😃

Maybe they voted against it!

I am joking, so please send no hate mail accusing me of disrespecting our priests. It is just obvious in the Detroit area which priests are familiar with the proper celebration of Mass and which are not. My hope is that all of them will be, and soon.

Do they have something on those 10 Suggestions that God gave to Moses?
