From the comments on the article…

"Many seem to have forgotten, there is a very smart little girl who lost her daddy. If for no other reason, they should have considered her feelings.

Right or wrong, children watch this show. And possibly children who know her. ****- Frank, Crawley, UK"

If children are watching South Park, their parents should be smacked.**

South Park is absolutely horrible. It offends everybody !!! If anyone lets their children watch this show, shame on them!

That disclaimer out of the way, here’s my confession!😦
My teenage (16) year old son used to watch this show at someone else’s house, without my knowledge. When he told me, I went over the edge! So I decided to watch an episode to see how bad it was. Yes… it was bad and horribly offensive! And I never laughed so hard in my life, which obviously reveals my own sinful human nature and need for God’s forgiveness!:o

I watched a few more times… almost another “guilty pleasure”… and winced when they belittled Jesus or the Catholic Church (which happens regularly). Eventually I was convicted by my conscience that watching this stuff is NOT good for my Catholic soul. I no longer watch. But I understand why people do. As horrible and offensive as it is… it can be hysterical sometimes. Lord have mercy on me!

Just another shining example that we are fast losing all civility, not to mention common sense, in this country.
I have to put my hand up and join the confession queue for those who (at least much of the time) find South Park a guilty pleasure rather than truly offensive.

Of course at times they go over the top with their mocking of religion and general insensitivity, and for that reason I haven’t watched for a while, but I defy anyone to not laugh at ‘Fighting Around the World With Russell Crowe’ or the like 😃

And sometimes they are right on the money when they portray the effects of neglect on kids and families and that sort of thing. I found that hard to watch, too. And yet edified and surprised that Sourth Park got it right.

That’s pretty low. I never watch that show, but I did tune in to see for myself the lowest of low’s when the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared, bleeding profusly from her rectum. 😦 It appears to be the intent of the show to offend.

Oh my gosh… that one is hilarious!!! Yes, they are out of control… esp. when it comes to Jesus, Mary, etc. They DO try to offend…that’s their MO… it gets publicity. But in our society, it works, so they are laughing all the way to the bank

And possibly to someplace else.

And there are so many worthwhile things to watch in it’s place. To each his own.

To each his own.
At times like these I do my best to remember that freedom of speech is worth fighting for and for everything worth remembering for eternity there is something worth discarding immediately.

South Park is hardly Shakespeare and not really worthy of remark, regardless of how low they sink in a vain attempt to be funny. I watched it once but lost interest when it became clear that the intelectual bar had obviously been set too high for me as I found it neither funny or satirical. I prefer Family Guy anyway.

🙂 I’m with you.

Dittos! Except for the Family Guy because I’ve never seen it.🙂

I wouldn’t let my kids watch Family Guy either…it’s not that much better…

I agree totally. The South Park I glanced at was not very different than the Family Guy I checked out. My daughter is in college but my son is still at home and he argues that he should be able to watch Family Guy.

The one small piece of the known universe I can can control is the inside of my home. Nudity and language can be necessary when used in great works of art and cinema but I refuse to let the festering, purile sewage of shows like Family Guy and South Park into my home. Period.

I would argue that if a Christian thinks an animated father masturbating with anti-itch cream is amusing, they need a values reassessment.

If it were up to me, I would refuse to allow those shows to be shown.
