Oil barrel price tops $135, is it the start of the end?

I hope it quickly goes up over $300/barrel so we in the U.S. can finally start expanding our domestic drilling and refining. The price would drop like a rock after that.

and worldwide commodity prices keep raising day after day, so should we expect Lord Jesus second coming in our lifetime?

I didn’t know a price hike will be a sign of His coming. But seriously, no not really. Sooner or later we’ll adapt and adjust to it, and find a way to keep things going with the use of alternative means of energy. It’s not time to push the panic button just yet.

I’m 59 and the availability of oil and gas for cars was questioned in the early 1960’s.

There was a graph about the supply of oil, and it was solid until the year 2005 and then it turned into a dashed line.

If the flat supply and rising price of crude oil does not suggest ANYTHING to some people, then the indications of global warming from the use of fossil fuels should.

What’s amazing is that most people in this country seem to be doing NOTHING about this. Sure, today was the Indy 500, the ultimate in our disdain of natural resources, coming and going.
(Where the oil comes from and where the hydrocarbon emissions go.)

Yes, $135 / barrel oil will be the end of many people on earth, but perhaps not us all.

Yeah, trucking firms are going out of business due to the high costs of diesel fuel. Do we need trucks for anything? Maybe…
we’ll find out soon.

I’m 44 years old, and remember the gas crunch of "73…people whined then too.

People have been predicting the demise of oil for decades…long before the 60s in fact. The oil supply is “flat” because we are not allowed to exploit some rather large oil finds in and around the United States.

Not only the US but the entire world is demanding more oil…thus we have the whole SUPPLY AND DEMAND thingy going on…more oil is wanted especially by places like India and China…our mid east friends seem content not to turn up the spicket on the oil flow…and then the speculators…ah, the speculators…these are the issues behind the rise in oil prices. You seem like an intelligent man…why are you buying into the whole “man made global warming” hoax…explain if you will then why Mars, Jupiter and Pluto are also undergoing “global” warming without the benefit of fossil fuels.

There’s very little oil used in the Indy 500…all those cars are run off of fuel grade ethanol.

Yes, we need trucks for almost everything.

I would rather have the sea stay as it is - there are too many creatures whose lives depend on the seas. And we feed off the seas also - and if they were turned to oil - we would be having a different, more urgent problem with water being a problem. We can live without oil but cannot live without water.

Wine is a good thing. Petroleum–well, it’s part of God’s creation so I won’t call it bad, but I can’t see that it has any intrinsic beauty!

The fact that many American Protestants think the opposite (that petroleum is good and wine bad) shows how radically their priorities are skewed,
