My grandfather just won the mayor’s race in our town. Yesterday he recieved an invite to be blessed by the pastor at a large non-denominational church in the town. Is it ok for him as a Catholic to recieve this blessing?

Well, I am sure you will find many to say “Yes, it is wrong to accept such”, I can’t follow that based on the actions of our church’s leadership. Both Popes JPII and BXVI have blessed and been blessed by non-catholic (and even non-christian) religious. It creates some controversy among certain segments of the laity, but as far as I can see, there is nothing forbidden about it.

"course, he could just ask his confessor about it, and get a better supported resolution to the question.

Really? When did that happen? I’m genuinely curious. You can PM me if you think it’ll get the thread off track.
