Quote: It seems to me there’s a lot of banter about charity and giving the benefit of the doubt to those who appear to be in a homosexual relationship (said benefit extending far beyond credible), but what about charity to the other posters??? Who’s giving them the benefit of the doubt that they might actually know more about what they’re talking about than we give them credit for??? Just because they’re not hanging out all the sordid details does not mean we have to pick their story apart…

Agreed. I think as a general rule, that one should assume the OP’s knowledge of the situation is sufficient to warrant posting in the first place. In any case, whether there is sufficient knowledge about a particular couple to say they are actively living a sinful lifestyle doesn’t eliminate the fact that there are some who do. Since the OP’s questin was more of a general one, using the female couple as an example (whether real or hypothetical) I think answers should be directed at what was asked (how the Church views homosexuals / what is their “status”) rather than questioning the OP’s motives or prior knowledge.

If, on the other hand a question regarding a specific person or people were posted such as “What should I say to these women?” - then some more follow up info would need to be forthcoming from the OP regarding the nature of the realtionship (i.e. whether it is just assumed to be sinful or there is actual evidence such as the couple asking the priest in front of the congregation to get married) in order for posters to make informed answers to the question.

What is the Church’s position toward active** gay/lebian people** who attend the Catholic Church?
The same as for all sexually active single people: Confession, walk away from your sin, and receive the Eucharist.

How do you describe “ACTIVE?”

You don’t have to formally state you are no longer catholic to cease to be Catholic. You are not pulling the wool over anyone’s eyes.

If you dissent church teaching how can you call yourself a catholic. Granted if you have difficulty with teaching or are working towards a better understanding okay. But if you blatantly state or believe you do not agree with church teaching and never will. why are you going to church for or calling yourself catholic other than to deceive people into thinking homosexual acts are not sinful.and the same goes for those who openly object to teachings against premarital sex. Go to another church don’t mislead people into thinking they can have both. It is not christ like it does not represent the catholic church, it represents you and your own beliefs and you should take your relativism and cafeteria catholic doctrine elsewhere.

I mean this with no disrespect i still love you as one of God’s children either way but it would be great if you could stop misrepresenting and misleading people in and out of the catholic church.
