In the “Moral Theology” sub-forum I created a thread about trying to get my mother and aunt to pray the rosary daily. That’s because I’m hopeless with their situation and worried about their salvation.

My mother in particular has a heart as hard and dry as a rock. She’s pratically a protestant, reading the bible by herself, full of heresies, saying that statues are idols, that the Church was founded by Constantine, that the saints are dead. There’s even a new one that I never heard before: that praying to saints is a human political thing, a shady thing, like asking for a job or whatever. She doesn’t believe in hell and thinks that everyone will go to the Heavens because this life has already too much suffering. And she is always angry when talking about priests.
She only wants to hear what is contrary to the Church.

However, she goes to mass every sunday and really believe that the Host is the Most Blessed Sacrament and that Jesus is alive there, because in the bible Jesus says: " do this in memory of me", and in her young days, she was created as catholic in a conservative countryside town.

I’m not exposing her like this because I’m wanna talk bad about my dearly mother, but because I’m trully hopeless. I’m already praying the rosary to convert her, and even asked Our Lord Jesus Christ that may I have a chance to be on her side in the time of her death so I can pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.

Praying to the Holy Spirit to give her guidance & direction to the Catholic Church.

Praying for your relatives to be better Catholics.
Now please pray for me to be a better Catholic.

Hail Mary,
Full of grace,
The Lord is with Thee.
Blessed art Thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb,
Jesus
Holy Mary,
Mother of God
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of death,
Amen

Praying for her conversion. It’s important to not involve ourselves too much in one’s conversion; I’m not saying you are, but control over others is very tempting.

Praying.

Sorry, but I had found this amusing. Hopefully you didn’t offend any Protestants. I have people in my own family who are Protestant and some are very loving and committed Christians. It is not for us to judge people’s hearts. No one is perfect. Not even you. Remember about what Jesus said about the log in one’s eyes… You should be thankful she is reading the Bible. This can be a point of dialogue between you and her. . If you want to influence your mother you can start by loving her. As the saying goes no one cares what you have to say until they know that you care about them. Start with what you agree on before moving to what you do not. If you just come after her with what you disagree on you will only be driving her away. Most importantly listen to what she has to say and understand her point of view before trying to explain yours. Pray that God would soften your heart towards your mother before praying to soften hers.

Praying…
Praying for Annie
Lord Jesus, lead all souls to heaven
especially those most in need of thy mercy.

Our Father…Hail Mary x10
Glory Be…Fatima Prayer…Amen!

You can’t convert her. God does that work when the person is open to it.

Pray for her to have the grace to be open. Don’t lecture or project where you think she should be in her relationship with God; that may harden her even more or drive her away. Everyone is in need of conversion, it’s a continual process. Put her and all of your worries in the hands of God.

You can’t do anything but pray for someone who refuses to hear anything

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Prayer to St. Maximillian Kolbe

St. Maximilian Kolbe, faithful follower of St. Francis of Assisi, inflamed by the love of God you dedicated your life to the practice of virtue and to works of the apostolate. Look down with favor upon us who devoutly confide in your intercession.

Having consecrated yourself to the Immaculate Virgin Mary, you inspired countless souls to holy life and to various forms of the apostolate in order to do good to others and to spread the kingdom of God. Obtain for us the grace by our lives and labors to draw many souls to Christ.

In your close conformity to our Divine Savior, you reached such an intense degree of love that you offered your life to save a fellow prisoner. Implore God that we, inflamed by such ardent charity, may through our living faith and our apostolic works witness Christ to our fellowman, and thus merit to join you in the blessed vision of God. Amen.

St. Maximilian Kolbe, pray for us!

Praying for your intentions
Lord Jesus, lead all souls to heaven
especially those most in need of thy mercy.

Our Father…Hail Mary x10
Glory Be…Fatima Prayer…Amen!

Praying for your mother that her heart will be open to the Faith and that you will have peace.

Have you tried the LOTH? I know that praying for conversion and return of the faithful is sometimes stressed in vespers.

Divine Mercy Chaplet

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!
O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Prayer to Mary Assumed into Heaven

O Blessed Virgin Mary,
united to the victorious Christ in heaven,
you are the image and first-flowering of the Church
as she is to be perfected in the world to come.
You shine forth as a sign of sure hope and solace
for the pilgrim People of God.
In your Assumption,
you manifest the fullness of redemption
and appear as the spotless image of the Church
responding in joy
to the invitation of the Bridegroom, your Son,
who is the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

Grant that we may follow your example on earth
thereby imitating your Son as well
and being enabled to share your glory,
with Him for all eternity.
Amen.
