Really? It has been a few years since I attended a wedding.
We still have the bride and groom statue from our wedding cake of course that was 40 years ago, and well before XBOX 🤣 (that picture is funny)
 
Yeah, things have changed in terms of traditions around weddings.
Bridesmaids sometimes carry lanterns instead of flowers, groomsmen walk in with the women (in couple formation) or single file ahead of the Groom instead of coming from the Sacristy,
Both parents walking the bride in, one bride who taught 3rd grade had all the little girls in her class as attendants.
Lots of “innovation”. Some people are using fancy punched card stock shapes like hearts or birds since churches are disallowing flower petals these days.

Talk about a hijacked thread. I thought this was about chicken wings/nuggets. How did we get to wedding toppers on fruitcakes? Is the next post after mine going to be about the right of fruitcake makers to not put gay couple toppers on them?

OBTW, chicken nuggets are the SPAM of the poultry food trade.

Truth be told Clare, I actually like fruitcake and look forward to Christmas time when they are available. In fact, my favorite saying for someone who is lacking in some department is “he’s six cherries short of a fruitcake.”😉

I luuv fruitcake,something we always made in November so that the flavour matured (brandy in the cake) by Christmas.Its not something you eat big hunks of .Often we would have a layer of almond icing and then another layer of Royal icing.
