Hello. Just curious about responses to this…
I agree. But I’ve noticed a trend where I’m at…and am curious about it.Not okay. But way, way too accepted as being ok. It’s disrespectful and rude.
Obviously emergencies and exceptional circumstances don’t apply to this.
What she said.Where you are located in the church doesn’t matter.
Whether you have a legitimate emergency or reason does.
He’s partially joking of course, but his central message is true. How is bolting out the door without taking so much as a few minutes to reflect on and appreciate the Eucharist treating the Sacrament with any kind of reverence? No matter how badly I want to leave, I always stay until the last hymn has ended and I’m always glad that I did!“If you walk out the door immediately after consuming the body and blood of Christ, I’m going to have to send an Altar Server with a candle to escort you to your car because Jesus is barely into your esophagus!”
I was taught it was a “sin” to leave Mass before communion. I think the priest should leave the altar after Mass and come down the center aisle to greet people at the door. That way perhaps more rude people will get the idea that one doesn’t leave until Mass is completely over and thereby show they have some manners.I personally think that it is sinful to leave the Mass before it ends. The precept of the Church says to attend Mass on Sundays. It does not say to attend part of the Mass.

I like a priest with a sense of humor. If people don’t get the idea from that, they need to be asked to carry their own lighted candle. With the exception of a legitimate emergency, I don’t think it’s OK to leave early. Our Pastor puts it like this:
