I thought that I missed Barney…but no…I got him with my nieces. (shudder)

I love you
You love me
Let’s hang Barney
From a tree…

(My son used to sing that one, mostly to annoy his cousin. HE had to put up with Barney when he was 12. Twelve year olds have distinct opinions about stuff like Barney, Teletubbies and the Smurfs that have nothing whatsoever to do with the avoidance of magic and Satanism. šŸ˜‰ .)
lmbo!! Teletubbies! Oh my! My daughter was a 2 yr old tubbie fan when Jerry Falwell declared tinky winky a homosexual for carrying a purse & being that gay inducing šŸ˜‰ purple color! :rotfl::rotfl:

Falwell is one of the most entertaining people I have come across, actually.

when jerry falwell told me peekachoo was demonic, i went out and bought one, just to hang from my visor in my truck. when he told me tinky winky was gay, i bought two…i just love tweeking the noses of uptight fundamentalist leaders. šŸ˜‰ i cant help it. in my nature. Peace šŸ™‚

most days, this month it is hotter then heck & 10000000% humidity, no fun but better than sticking my head in a hot oven with the fan blowing lol, btw, my husband got a huge kick out of that image.
I am also annoying to some fundamentalists, thats why I am not Baptist any more lol:D

wow! as a former baptist myself, i have the same problem. i tend to annoy the fundamentalist too! lol! it is doubly troubling to them, because we who are from that background, are just as well versed in our bibles as they are  they dont expect that from a Catholic. which as you and i know is a myth. many good Catholic bible studies out their. is your husband in the military as well? on thing i love about Marines, they can hit a moving target at 500 meters. we are only proficient at 300. 500 meters and moving? and doing it when your out of breath? now thats amazing. šŸ‘

Yes, my husband has been in Army & Marines for almost 20 yrs now.
I totally know what you mean about the bible thing, it is hugely funny. I may not be able to recite the chapter number & verse like I used to but I still know the scriptures well. When I started going to Mass, I recognized all the scriptural elements that others did not. I think many honest ā€œbible christiansā€ would admit the same. The baptist church I went to had to tell me to stop asking questions because they didnt have answers. It was self satisfying in a snarky sort of way, until I realized it left me floundering. I didnt know that there was anything other than fundamentalist, literalistic churches. Wrong!šŸ˜‰ I have been going to Catholic Bible studies for a few yrs now, including the Why Catholic program. We have a strong group here, I will be facilitating this fall. I love the Catholic idea of the Bible in its totality, not as a bunch of ā€œproof textsā€.
About hitting the targets, yes he is quite proud of his shooting ability. One thing he hates about being here is not being able to take our guns. 3 yrs with no shooting range! He goes to the one here for the M16 but no sidearms. 😦 Hope you get out of the sandbox soon. I was watching some of the convoy heading to Kuwait today. Cheering!

nice! i like the m16 better than the m4. just put my nose to the charging handle and i cant miss. belly breast burm. you know the drill. had a very similar experience with the baptist. i dont like the whole proof texting thing either. i love how the Catholic Church takes the bible and makes it come alive. alot of fundamentalist miss use this beautiful book, and it becomes nothing more than a tool to find proof for their pet peeve. be it believer baptism, speaking in tongues whatever. by joining with the Catholics, i lost nothing, but gained much. i get the whole picture now. i should have listened to my gut when i was younger. i always felt a pull to Catholicism. now i know why. it was that still small voice…Peace and prayers for you and yours. and have a smurfy day!šŸ™‚

I don’t know about the smurfs thing but I do recall, back in the early 80s, when I associated with them, that we were not permitted to use the words bulletin board or crucifixion.
For the life of me I can’t recall the reasoning behind the bulletin board thing.
Oh that is nothing,my girlfriend is a school teacher and told me one of her students a JW could not eat…CUP CAKES! According to mother of the child, it is because they consider it a gift, since they do not celebrate birthdays, holidays, etc, etc. 🤷

It is another cult with its kooky beliefs and teachings.

(grin) I think the problem was the occasion that prompted the cup cake, not the cup cake itself. As far as I am aware, JW’s like gifts just fine; they just give 'em when they feel like it, rather than making it part of a specific day/tradition.

I have to admit, even though I’m Mormon and we have NO problem at all with Christmas, Valentines’ Day, birthdays, anniversaries and all other gift giving ocasions, I have a problem with the gift giving thing in one way: when I see something I’d like to buy, or make, for a friend or family member, I want to give it to them right then, not wait for months for Christmas. I mean, really…if you think your friend needs a comfy pair of gloves to keep her hands warm in cold weather, how much sense does it make to keep her fingers blue for two months just so she can unwrap them on Christmas?

It’s one of the few things about JW’s that I can honestly appreciate; they give gifts because they want to, not because some calendar date obligates it…and I haven’t noticed my JW neighbor’s kids going toyless. šŸ˜‰

I just have to double give; when I want to, AND when the ocasion demands it, both. Personally, I think that makes it more fun anyway.
