Why do you stick that PBUH after each time you mention Mohammed or some other guy you think was a prophet? I know it stands for “peace be upon him” but why must you be so careful to use it every time so reduntantly without fail… honestly what’s the big deal about this?

The prophets and messengers have a high status in Islam. They worked hard and had to undergo torture, ridicule and sometimes even death all for the sake of the message. The smallest thing we can do is pray for them and wish them peace.

May Allah’s peace and mercy be upon them all.

I thought you told me intercessory prayer has no place in Islam.

EDIT: spelling

Where is there any intercession here?

We are praying for them, not to them. Similarily when someone dies, we say “may God have mercy on their souls.”

Never does a Muslim pray to Mohamed (pbuh) or any other prophet. We actually pray for them, ask God to bestow His blessings and peace on them.

Praying for someone is the definition of intercessory prayer. I think exoflare is confusing the Muslim objection to intercessory prayer by the dead for a general objection to intercessory prayer.

No, I was referring to stuff on intercession that me and Faith101 were discussing thru PM’s… that’s probably why it didn’t make sense to you. I’m not going to go into detail because I don’t want to paraphrase and accidently give the wrong impression of anything said there.

Exoflare, please address it here or PM me. I dont believe i ever said that we can not pray FOR people. All prayers are directed to God, for He is the only one that can truly hear our prayers…no dead person has that ability.

If i said something that you may have misunderstood, i would like to correct it.

You’re right, I may have misunderstood something you said. The problem was that I can’t go back to some of those PM’s because my inbox was getting very full and I had to delete a bunch of them.

As for the belief that every prayer is directed to God, this is the same belief Catholics have.

Maybe it was asking dead people to pray for you, specifically, that you said Muslims didn’t believe in? I know there was something that you took issue with, that might have been it.

You are correct, Muslims do not ask dead people for anything, whether its to relay a message to God or to answer a prayer.

Okay then, that clears it all up. No further questions here. 👍

Let me see if I understand Faith 101 correctly.

A dead person praying, intercessing for living people is a no, no in the Muslim view.

But a living person praying, intercessing for dead people is okay in the Muslim view.

a dead person praying is like a dead person eating…it doesnt happen (and really defeats the idea of death) 😃

When you supplicate to God, you are pretty much asking Him for things that you would like. I personally ask for many things, like His guidance, His mercy, etc. I also ask Him that He forgive my grandmother all her sins and accept her into paradise. I also ask that He make an exam that my friend is taking easy on her, etc.

I, a living person, can supplicate to God for anything I would like. When I die, i will no longer possess that power. I can no longer pray that God will forgive me…it’s over.

We only have this time on earth to make our case for paradise. It all ends with our last breath…until judgement day.

That’s an excellent observation which we all can agree, “…a dead person eating… it doesn’t happen.”

Now let me understand the Muslim view, further. Though Muslims believe that dead people cannot eat, cannot open their mouth and chew the food, when it comes to sex with virgins however, a dead Muslim can???

May God guide you.

you are alive now, then you die, and then you will be raised up again. In paradise, if Allah wills that you make it in, is where a person enjoys all the things he/she wants to enjoy.

Why are you sidestepping the issue?

Faith 101

This time period after the body dies to the time the body is raised again CAN BE A VERY VERY VERY LONG TIME. It can be a thousand years, ten thousand years, a million years or more.

So what Muslims are saying is that in this time period which can be a million years, THERE REALLLY IS NO SEX WITH VIRGINS BECAUSE THE BODY IS A CORPSE IN THE CEMETERY, IS DEAD, CANNOT EAT, CANNOT HAVE SEX, BECAUSE THESE ARE ACTIVITIES THAT DEAD PEOPLE CANNOT DO!!! IT DOESN’T HAPPEN WITH DEAD PEOPLE.!!!

But when the body is raised ten thousand, or a million or a billion years from now, the body is alive again. Then the dead Muslim can have sex with all those 72 virgins. IS THIS WHAT MUSLIMS BELIEVE??? I AM JUST TRYING TO UNDERSTAND WHAT MUSLIMS BELIEVE, FAITH 101. It has been several months now that we have been talking to you. But it is not yet clear to us what Muslims really believe.

You know something Faith01?

I enjoy a lot more praying for the needs and happiness of others than satisfying my own needs, that’s why when I die, according to your belief, I will ask God to allow me to pray for my family and my friends who are still alive … satisfying my spiritual needs is a lot more rewarding than satisfying my carnal needs, so I’d rather pray for my family and friends than having an orgy with 72 virgins …

will I be able to do that according to your belief?

BTW, the Koran is very explicit about what men will get in heaven, but it says almost nothing about what women will get there, so what will women get in heaven Faith01?

could you give precise and straight answers??

thanks

So basically what your saying is when a Muslim dies they can enjoy earthly pleasures if they want to. Therefore, them eating in heaven actually *does *happen if they wish it to. Right?

I’ll refraise my question.

If a dead person eating never happens, then why does a dead person having sex happen?

Also, I thought in the Muslim heaven there are rivers of honey and exotic fruits. Wouldn’t the dead eat these?

Allah can make a million years seem like a few seconds.

There seems to be something you are misunderstanding. I will try to explain again, InshAllah make it more clear

You are alive right now. You will die. God will bring you back to life to be judged. You either enter hell. Or you will enter heaven, where you will have all the pleasures your heart desires, including the desires of the body like sex.
I apologize that i’m doing a lousy job explaining my beliefs. They are in reality very simple, and any shortcoming is to be blamed on me.

We will die and be brought to life to be judged. Then, either paradise or hell…that is the phase where the sex with the 72 virgins that you are concerned about happens.

Pleae let me know if i did another lousy job explaining 😃

lol. Relax. As Muslims we believe that we only have this life. If we were allowed to pray and ask for stuff afterwards, then really, death means nothing. Death is the end. Its hard to accept, i know, but really it is the truth.

In heaven the greatest and best reward is to be in the presence of our Creator. However, it is also a physical place where physical desires are fullfilled.

I will say this, and i have said it before. Muslim men…the ones who actually get those rewards in heaven…are the ones that arent having sex with everyone on this earth. THey are the ones that are lowering their gaze whenever they see a half naked women. They are the ones who have struggled against themselves to guard their chastity. And as a muslim female, i say, in paradise they should get all the things they want. Ofcourse, women will have their rewards too.
will I be able to do that according to your belief?
Trust me, if you could pray for anyone, the only person you would be praying for is yourself. Its our nature, and when you see the fire of hell, you will forget your mother’s name.

You can, howerver, struggle to find the truth in this life…and pray that your family and friends are guided also. You can ask for their forgiveness, etc. But when you die…thats it.
BTW, the Koran is very explicit about what men will get in heaven, but it says almost nothing about what women will get there, so what will women get in heaven Faith01?
good question. Each and every person will get, as Allah says “'I have prepared for My righteous servants what no eye has seen and no ear has heard, not has it occurred to human heart’” Meaning, everyone will be completly satisfied and happy

‘And no soul knows what joy for them (the inhabitants of Paradise) has been kept hidden (Quran Chapter 32 Verse 17)’

This is what I know. As a Muslim, I am not looking for a commercial on what heaven is going to be like…thats a waste of time. I spend my time trying to make it there! May Allah guide us and make that journey easy.
