OK, I know this is page 2 and I’m a little late to the party here, but what is an “Old Catholic?”
The Old Catholic Church is a schismatic offshoot of the Roman Catholic Church. It is descended from the Utrecht Union of Churches that dissented from the doctrine of papal infallibility and some other items, in 1870.

There are some Old Catholic parishes in my area, and I know some Roman Catholics who have switched from RC to OC, out of unhappiness with the Roman Catholic Church. I started this thread because of a situation that arose in which a person baptized in the OC attended a RC wedding as a guest and was uncertain whether it was permissible to receive Communion. He decided to err on the side of caution and didn’t do so, but I was curious about the actual rule for this sort of thing.
