Mr. Potatoe Head I love You!!!

It’s my turn to operate!!! <— still don’t know how I feel about that toy lol.

Oh yes yes FLASHBACK !!!

and “Weebles Wobble, but they don’t fall down”

When I was a kid we had the operation game stored under my bed and somehow it started buzzing in the box. We were terror- struck because we thought there was a ghost in the box, but my dad came to the rescue and explained that we just left teh tweezers on top where they could hit the metal connecters on the operating table.

I always liked the Iron Eyes Cody anti-pollution ad, too.

Woah I bet that was the one I was talking about!

One of my all time favorites:

adcouncil.org/campaigns/historic_campaigns_pollution/

On the right side of the screen click on Indian in canoe…(have your speakers turned on)…(it plays a little choppy, but I’m only on a dial up connection)…

"In a public service announcement that aired on the first-ever “Earth Day” in 1971, television viewers watched Iron Eyes paddle his canoe up a polluted stream past a belching smokestack, and walk to the edge of a busy highway strewn with trash. As the camera moved in for a close-up, a single tear rolled down Iron Eyes’ cheek, a tear for the fate of America. “People start pollution,” said the narrator’s voice, “people can stop it.”
That tear proved more eloquent than any words, as viewers found themselves profoundly moved, and dedicated themselves to preserving the beauty of the American landscape. The ecology movement, still in it infancy, had found a powerful ally in the talents of Iron Eyes Cody; the commercial left an impression on millions of us who saw the spot. In fact, the spot was recently named one of the top fifty commercials of all time. People who saw the advertisement still remember Iron Eyes and his plea to all Americans to protect the environment.

For the rest of his life, Iron Eyes would carry on his mission to preserve America’s beauty. His crusade took him everywhere, from lecture halls and school auditoriums to audiences with presidents, royalty, and the Pope.
thanks for posting this, it was the commercial I was thinking of and it was really great to be able to watch it again!

I love the coffee (I think it’s Folgers) commercial for Christmas, where the grown son comes home while the family is still asleep and he makes them coffee. And the little sister says “Peterrrr!!” Peter hugs her and the mom is watching them, about to cry. They’ve been playing that one for as long as I can remember.
They still play that commerical during the holidays and it still makes me cry :crying: It is one of P&G’s finer commericals IMO.

I also liked (and miss) Mrs. Olson for Folger’s too.

I also loved the old Pepsi commericals back the 70’s. “Have a Pepsi Day”. I remember in college for one of my advertising classes, we sat and watch those old commericals and for some reason when those commericals came out back then, it did not affect me as much as it did during that class.

Peace-bwu,

This same topic came up a year or so ago on another message board. I didn’t know the ad was on the net until another poster posted it (I never would have thought to look for it). I am glad I’m not the only ‘ancient one’ (at least that what my kids call me:) ) who remembers the commercial.

Thing is, it’s just as relevant now as it was 34 years ago.

If you ever come through Chicago, stop by the Museum of Broadcast Communications (well once they open up again in their new location next year) and watch hours of old commercials:

Two more places to see them, if you happen to be in New York City, or Los Angeles:

Mikey likes it.

The Game of Life (The game…)

When you’re into Perfection, keep on your toes…

CoooStanza!!!

It’s not that old (maybe mid-80’s), but the Clydesdales playing football and two cowboys watching is one of the classiest commercials I’ve ever seen.
“Do they always do that?”
“Nope. Sometimes they go for two.”
But it’s the dripping, steaming horses, the “linemen” that’s the shot of a lifetime.

Anybody remember
Calll for Phillip Morrrriiiiiisssssss!!!

“Chesterfields, not a cough in a carload.”

I am not much of a commercial watcher, but for some strange reason, I remember this jingle:
I am an acne pimple, as lonely as can be
Don’t cry pimple, I’ll keep you company
Hey fellow pimple’s would three be a crowd?
All together pimple’s sing out loud
da da da da da da da
I think it was some kind of anti-acne medication, but I have no idea what it was. The mind is a strange thing. 😃

“umum…good…umum good that’s what Campbell’s soups are umum…good…”😉
