'Old Mass' parishes are wave of future

From the evidence I’ve seen, the Latin Mass is definitely making a huge comeback,
I don’t think so. The Fraternity of St. Peter has just 2 small seminaries, 1 in the US and 1 abroad. Total of 125 seminarians worldwide.

Even with no washouts, the max is 30 new FSSP priests per year.

Anything is possible, and I guess its possible that the Latin mass could at some point in time make a comeback, but its extremely unlikely I’ll see it in this parish during my lifetime.

The Tridentine Mass is fine, but the idea of a “Tridentine parish” or a “Traditional parish” sounds highly divisive to me. Very Protestant-like…

I agree, unless the magesterium would want to bring back the Latin mass as the mainstream mass, I just don’t think this kind of thing is really that appropriate.

Ecclesia Dei and indults are fine, but IMHO, it would be best if the Latin masses were said (occasionally) in a large number of parishes instead of permanent locations (the traditional parish or latin mass community).

Arba Sicula:
In many areas, they don’t have Tridentine parishes as such, but rather most Masses in the Novus Ordo Rite, with one or two Masses in the Tridentine Rite.
We would be happy with one that was approved closer then 35 miles away. Our Bishop has not approved one Tridentine Rite Mass in this area. There is a Tridentine Rite Mass about 20 miles away but it is not done with approval. Leave us little choice in the matter if we choose to stay in communion with Rome.

Thankfully, the good bishop of Kansas City-St. Joseph disagrees with you.

**God bless him. **

And, no, you people suffering under heterodox bishops can’t have him. He’s ours. :tsktsk: (For a while anyway).

He looks really young. It seems like you will have him for a very long time.

Would you lone him?
He’s 52. Problem is, we’ve determined he would make a great Cardinal. And if he’s a Cardinal, he won’t be one in Kansas City. No offense to my hometown, but in the grand scheme of the Universal Church, Kansas City is something of a backwater.

Oh, well. We’ll enjoy him while we’ve got him. And, no, you can’t borrow him. :whacky:
