oh you mean carposi carcoma…I can’t spell worth **** 🙂

I think it’s related to HIV - that cancer.
Yup, it’s called Kaposi’s sarcoma. The only reason I know anything about it (and I am NO expert) is because I tragically knew someone who died of an AIDS related disease.

It’s pretty clear that engaging in high risk male homosexual activity isn’t the best way to prolong your life and remain healthy.

Having said that, it’s also clear you can’t say that being homosexual leads to all forms of cancers, viruses, Ebola outbreaks, nuclear wars, etc.

😉
I don’t think anyone said that it would, however we have said that this lifestyle is not something we want promoted and taught to our children.

Right. Hence my little smiley/winky face icon. I was being saracastic, but making a point at the same time.

Well, thanks for your responses.

There was no request to boycott Old Navy, just to send a polite email asking them to reconsider their promotion of the gay lifestyle.

This is not about hate or a witch hunt. This is about wanting to be able to go shopping with my young children in a family friendly atmosphere. 🙂

As things progress, our children will be more and more exposed to the pro-gay message which tries to promote it as a healthy lifestyle when it isn’t. While we are to love and sympathize with those who struggle with SSA, we shouldn’t help to promote it especially to young children.

Old Navy did this promotion to “test the waters” for future promotions. They only set this up in select Metropolitan cities and are waiting to see the response. The LGBT community is unhappy it wasn’t nation wide and is sponsoring their own email protest. (Is that a hateful witch hunt as well? 🤷)

We are already seeing homosexual wedding displays at Macy’s. As things progess, it will become common place to see two men or two women kissing or in bed together on TV ads, billboards, store posters, and internet ads. There will be no shielding the children.

I’ve always felt it’s a positive thing to stand up for what you believe is right and to work to protect the children from negative influences. 👍

God Bless! 🙂
Why can’t you go with your family? How is one shirt that talks about love going to make any difference to your family unless YOU make a big deal about it?

because it is more than just this one shirt. She mentioned the wedding display at Macy’s, hard for a kid not to notice something like that. It might start with a shirt that talks about love, but what will the next shirt have on it?

I’m still going to shop at Old Navy. This doesn’t bother me as a Catholic. It’s a secular company.

There’s nothing wrong with being “gay”. The Catholic church is not anti-Gay. The church is against gays having homosexual intercourse.
You’re missing the point! You’re right the catholic church has nothing wrong with homosexuals but it makes you wonder, if old navy is not supporting the “right” for gays to have sex and get married than what else would there be for them to support. Pride? There is no point if gays to be proud of being gay just because they are gay.

Some people are just proud of their difference. It does not mean they are having sex or living the lifestyle, it just means they view their difference as a type of human variation and not an aberration.

Well, the thing I wonder about, is that we all have various temptations to do things that would be either physically, emotionally or spiritually harmful…and are those things that we should be “proud” of?

If I have continued fantasies and desires to sleep with my neighbor’s spouse or my parish priest, but I never act on it, is that something to be proud of and celebrate?

If I have desires to look at porn and masturbate, is that something to put on a t-shirt and be proud of?

Granted, these types of desires DO NOT make me a bad person or someone to be shunned by any means. I just can’t imagine anyone wanting to advertise these things by printing t-shirts and promoting them to others. 😊

Unfortunately in the depraved and fallen world we live in, YES all those things would be celebrated by some group or other. And if you put on a t-shirt and “came out,” someone would be bound to congratulate you for having the courage to stand tall in your perversion.

You left out beastiality and pedophilia.

Woe to you that call evil good, and good evil: that put darkness for light, and light for darkness. Isaiah 5:20

I just think about how much better off people would be if we would follow the Church’s teachings and kept sex to marriage:

– No STD’s/Aids.
– No out-of-wedlock births
– No anal cancer
– No adultery
– Less emotional pain from promiscuity

We all struggle with our temptations, but we need to help each other move towards this goal, not away from it. That is real love! ❤️

I just wish you had kept this thread about homosexuality. Out-of-wedlock births should not have been included in that list. I m not comparable to AIDS. Please. Would you rather unmarried women get abortions?

I understand what you are getting at but as the saying goes, ‘you attract more bees with honey than vinegar’.

God bless

I think she was implying that people wouldn’t have sex out of wedlock and therefore no children would be born out of wedlock. Not that women who get pregnant out of wedlock should have abortions.

NO ONE would imply that it’s better to have an abortion than have a child out of wedlock. At least they’d better not do that around here!

Jane Grey

I’m sorry if you were somehow hurt by what I said. I certainly intended no vinegar! :o I’m not sure I understand.

What I was trying to communicate is that it would be preferable and less painful if kids could be born into stable families with married parents.

I’m sorry if it seemed that I was saying something else.
:imsorry:

Dont feel bad! If had said that to you in person, i probably would not have come across that angrily. 😊

Basically, my point was that Christians often come across as ‘hateful’ whether or not we actually are, because we tend to rant against sins.

I m no saint, Im guilty of coming across wrongly too, as we have all seen. However I like to stress even in other threads that we should all think about how we come across, and the end goal of leading more people to Christ, rather than away from Him, due to our pride. (not addressed to anyone in particular.) Most people have loved ones who are gay, know someone who has aborted or are out of wedlock children. So people do get emotional and I do because I have been treated differently by some family friends for instance, however these are the same people who are against abortion.

The ‘vinegar’ thing was in reference to the effectiveness of boycotting gay-friendly establishments. I find that people become more receptive to Catholicism the more exposed they are to it, and to Christian charity.

Anyway, I forgot to say this earlier, but thank you for not using the term ‘illegitimate’ to describe ‘out of wedlock’ children.

God bless and sorry for the misunderstanding!

Ok, if you are so into psychology, how can you say that? Homosexuality is no longer in the DSM, and although you don’t understand it, don’t put it on par with those who victimize innocent bystanders!!! Pedophiles are rapists, and beastiality is just cruel as animals can’t consent. Although homosexual sex is wrong because it can only take place outside of marriage, to compare it to those other things is very degrading and uncharitable in my humble opinion. 🤷

Feel free to disagree, but I think that’s a cruel and unfair parallel to make.😊

Jane, don’t let this thread get to you. If you are a single mother, you’re doing something very incredible. I find being a mom hard and I have a husband.

Sometimes these threads become very “personal” and begin to hurt people unintentionally.

My uncle is gay and he’s married to someone. They’ve been together for 30 years. I have a hard time accepting the church’s stance on gays getting married b/c I see how happy and loving my uncles are.

I know a loving gay couple that adopted 3 Down’s Syndrome babies that no one wanted. They are amazing parents and now these children are almost grown up and have jobs.

Although I do accept and appreciate the church’s teachings, I still sometimes feel a lot of confusion and empathy towards people who have SSA and are then faced with the huge cross of morality.

I work with gay married people in my field and I have a hard time believing that such kind people will go to Hell when they die. It’s not for me to judge. I know the church’s stance on it, but only God knows their hearts and whether or not they will go to Heaven. Many will disagree with me on this and I understand.

I find myself very confused and empathetic as well… I know of a gay couple who adopted three little boys, siblings, who all had fetal alcohol syndrome. No straight couples would take on one of those children alone, much less all three. I can’t find a parallel to besteality or pedophilia when people, that while living in sin, have such kind hearts.

I compare those living the gay lifestyle to straight people having sex outside of marriage. No more, no less. I love my friends to death even though they are having premarital sex, what happens in their bedrooms has no impact on me.

I don’t understand the cruel remarks and anger directed towards the gay community. They deserve no more anger or hatred than those having extramarital straight sex. Hate the sin, not the sinner…
