I had to look that one up: blatherRather typical Vatican I blather, but under the surface, even that seems to say the same thing. Particularly noteworthy is the reference to Trent.

I see your point that “Latin” is rather limiting. The thing is, though, that the Latin (Catholic) Church has numerous rites … Many are only aware of the Roman Rite, but there’s the Bragan Rite, the Ambrosian Rite, etc.Lets put the word “rite”. Latin rite Catholics.
And even centuries ago, there were non latin speaking Catholics.
Then let’s say Roman rite. When we see faithful who use ambrosian rite(rare, now only in milan )or Bragan rite,(now in Portugal only),let us refer to them by their rite.I see your point that “Latin” is rather limiting. We can try, but I’ve found that popular habits are very difficult to change. Then let’s say Roman rite. When we see faithful who use ambrosian rite(rare, now only in milan )or Bragan rite,(now in Portugal only),let us refer to them by their rite.
Reminds me of Kipling.man told man to protect man from man and kill man if it be necessary to protect man but man wanted money badly so man took it from man

reminds me on the importance of using accurate words.Reminds me of Kipling.
As FYI to all: When we say “Latin Church,” or even “Latin Rite Catholic” we include all of the Western/Latin Rites, including the Roman Rite. When we say Roman Rite, we are excluding them. Then let’s say Roman rite. When we see faithful who use ambrosian rite(rare, now only in milan )or Bragan rite,(now in Portugal only),let us refer to them by their rite.
and my point is,
man told man to protect man from man and kill man if it be necessary to protect man but man wanted money badly so man took it from man.
This is actually about the sack of constantinople.
Nope, it is like saying East syriac rite catholic as opposed to syro malabar rite catholic.Saying “Latin Rite Catholic” is akin to say “Eastern Rite Catholic.”
Thank you. Where is this standard set and how did this agreement come about? You’re welcome to provide a link if you like. The standards are as follows, although many ECs use whatever Catholic version is available in the language needed:
Byzantines use the same as the EO - based on the Septuagint and its translations
Syriac, Chaldean-Assyrian, and Maronite Churches, including the non-Latin Churches in India - based on the Syriac Peshitto and its translations
Armenians use the Armenian Canon as does the Armenian Apostolic Church
Coptic Catholics - same as Coptic Orthodox
Ethiopian Catholics - same as Ethiopian Orthodox
If you would like to learn more about the Eastern Rites, I would first suggest checking our an Eastern Catholic Church. They celebrate the same Rites as the Orthodox, but are in communion with Rome.I am very interested about the Ortodox Religion, because I am Catholic but I like to know other religions, and I know a little bit about that. Thank you
