Are there any Old Testament prophesies or references to Paul that reinforce his apostolic claim? It appears to me that his story is similar to many others throughout history who have claimed to have had visions of our Savior and changed the course of our catholic faith.
You know, I’ve thought on this periodically since you posted it, and I can’t come up with a single Type that points us to Paul, nor any prophecies that could be singled out to Paul.
He is, although, the poster child for the “
written in stone” Old Covenant follower, who will become the “
written in your heart” New Covenant follower. I don’t think anybody represents the passion of both Covenants as well as Paul. Although Stephen seems to reveal the Spiritualness of the New Covenant in ways that inspire me so much, but now I think I’m beginning to ramble.
What’s interesting is that Paul brings to light so many of the most obscure Typologies of the Old Testament. Christ is the Rock that followed the Israelites in the Wilderness. Christ is the 2nd Adam. Paul is actually the one that introduced us to the teaching on Typology, things in the Old Testament “
being but a shadow of the good things to come” (paraphrasing). But I don’t recall Paul showing how he is the fulfillment of anything in the Old Testament.
BTW, dennisguy,
