Omission of Gloria and Creed?

Is it permissible to omit the Gloria and the Creed in Mass when there is no substitution for them at all? It’s happened in the last 2 Sundays at my new parish. :confused:
 
No, that shouldn’t be happening. If it were my parish I would ask the pastor about it.
 
There’s a couple churches here in Tucson that regularly leave the Creed out of Sunday Mass with no substitute.

I did ask the Pastor why!

It’s been awhile since I talked with him, so I can’t remember all the details. But the general ‘jist’ was this:

First, I was told that the creed is like a “Pledge of Allegience”–it’s just a statement of our faith.

Then he asked me what the difference between a Sunday Mass and a Daily Mass. Well daily Masses are shorter and don’t have the Creed. So he tried to use this as a point that the Creed is not required for Mass to be valid. I did say that Sunday Mass is different in the sense that it’s a obligation for all Catholics to go to, where daily Mass is not–that most Catholics only go to Sunday Mass, and that it would be important that Creed is part of it because it is the statement of our faith.

I left still not agreeing with him.

My parish left out the Gloria for 2 weeks, but this past weekend it was back :clapping: . Thankfully the Creed was never omitted. I would definitely ask about it, because both should indeed be included.
