No.I have noticed that for the past three weeks, our priest has been omitting the Gloria from Mass, he also did it today, on the Solemnity of Christ the King. When I asked our music director why Fr. was doing this he said it was optional. Is it?

The Gloria shouldn’t have been ommitted.
That said, I frequently drive an hour to a parish where the priest never includes the Gloria. Our own pastor, although he follows the book precisely, is so unkind and uncharitable, it’s difficult to attend Mass there. … guess that’s way off topic. What I wanted to get at is that previously, prior to our current pastor being assigned here, I would have felt following the instruction for Mass was most important. Now, I’m not so sure.

It wouldn’t be under the Pope’s remit to deal with localized omissions, whether accidental or deliberate. He’s too high up. Any complaints should go to the your diocesan bishop.I fervently hope the next pope fixes this liturgical chaos.
