At least it would get there by 10 o’ clock! 😉
Hey, I thought of something else while I was at lunch. Do you have any old books? You could try selling them on amazon.com. A few years ago, I went through and listed all of my old books that I wasn’t going to read again. I was able to make $200-250 over a couple of months time. It costs nothing to list them (unlike ebay), and it is a very easy way of making a little extra money.

Also, since you stay home during the day, would you be able to babysit a child or two? Or does your health prevent that?

Just a few more brainstorms.🙂

We don’t have enough to sell right now. :o

The babysitting IS great and that’s what I did ALL THE TIME where we used to live. I brought in TONS of cash. My husband has put the word out several times at his work, as well as they spreading the word to their friends. Everyone in this ritzy town prefers expensive commercialized day care to cheap higher quality private care. I don’t get it!

I have tried Church, the school, and they need nothing. I respond to bulletin adds and they pick high schoolers over a highly qualified 25 year old. 🤷 Maybe they think that’s just too weird, a 25 year old sitter, or maybe they just know the high schoolers better. The people at my old church and town thought it was AWESOME! 🙂

Since we are struggling with infertility, this has been my dream job. I love kids and want nothing more than an army to call my own. Taking care of other kids was a great substitute! I would pay THEM for the opportunity! 😉

All we can do is keep both sets of eyes and ears open for these positions, do the advertising at work, etc. SOMETHING will come up, I just KNOW it will. God hasn’t let us down yet, and I know He will take care of us still. We may be swimming in deep waters, running out of stamina, but we couldn’t have a better Life Guard than Jesus! 🙂

I now make all our bread. A bag of whole wheat flour costs about the same as one loaf of bread, but you can make about 4 loaves with it. We buy nothing premade, and no mixes.
Is it ok to ask for your bread recipe? Do you use the one on Hillbillyhousewife? Thanks, Ren

Can you take a CPR/First Aid class in your area, that will be a selling point to get someone to consider you for sitting, but make sure it’s for infant/child/adult CPR/First Aid, not just Child/Adult. Also, have you considered going through the local YWCA for daycare licensing? Going through them, you will be put on their list (which many parents call when they want their child to be with someone who is totally legal and checked up on by the state). Within weeks you’ll most likely have a few interested in attending.

I was a Certified Nursing Assistant in my old state. They don’t transfer state to state, unfortunately, and, again unfortunately, expire without a certain number of recorded nursing assistant hours a year. BUMMER!

But the knowledge is most certainly year, and it has been a selling point for some families. 😃 I always throw it in there! :yup:

Good points! 👍 You all are the greatest!

I think you need to move to a small town. Maybe in Iowa.:whistle:
That IS tempting mommyof4…very tempting! I couldn’t imagine having better neighbors! 😃

Do you have a Fed Ex hub anywhere about there? :ehh:

Yes…I resurrected this beast! 😉

I am just needing a few pointers as we finally were able to buy a few niceties (ie MEAT, medicine) and now I have fallen ill and we are going downhill. If my husband had not gotten our tax check…we would have never made it. I had to go to urgent care this weekend with severe asthma attacks. We had to finally turn on our Air Conditioner to help me heal. I have to lay in bed and not do much at all so I don’t have to go back to the doctor’s. They had to give me treatments and I am just not sure what we are going to do now. I am sure we are near broke. On top of that we might have to move, because the climate here has made me sick (making us broke too) for six months. We don’t know how we could possibly afford to move, or what job he could get back home.

I guess I am just in need of advice of how you all got through the really tough times mentally, physically, and spiritually. Please also continue to keep my husband in your prayers. He’s not wanting to settle on a job that he can’t get out of easily, since we might have to move. He’s also very frustrated with all of this and its getting him down. Thanks everyone…God bless you.

Asking again, if you are this ill and unable to work, have you investigated Disability?

ssa.gov/disability/
No, but I don’t think it would apply. My husband is young, has a good job. Makes decent pay. It just is spent with astronomical rent (for safety purposes), medical bills, etc.

I am only 25, and have no former job to get disability from. I think you have to either be a certain age or pay range to get government help. We exceed both. 😦

Sorry I didn’t see this earlier! I make sourdough, since then you don’t even have to buy any yeast. It tastes great, is simple, and healthy. Here are some links about how to start your sourdough starter

home.teleport.com/~packham/sourdo.htm

My recipe is simple: I use about 2 cups of starter (if I don’t have that much I add some warm water to equal approximately 2 cups). Add 2 TBSP of molasses (or sweetener of your choice–brown sugar, corn syrup, whatever), 2TBSP of oil (vegetable, canola, olive, again–your choice), 1 TSP salt. You can also add a few tablespoons of wheat gluten to help it rise more, but this is totally optional. Then add enough flour to form a dough ball that’s not sticky–maybe 4 cups or so? I never really measure. I use whole wheat flour, better for you and tastes better too. Knead just a little (sourdough doesn’t require too much kneading), let rise for a couple hours or until doubled in an oiled bowl–I put it in the oven that’s been heated for a couple minutes and then turned off. Punch down, knead into shape, and put in a greased loaf pan or on a bread stone, let rise again until double, bake at 350 for 45 min.

Sounds harder than it is. I mix it up in the morning, let it rise until lunch time, put it in the pan, let it rise in the afternoon, bake and it’s fresh and ready for supper. You can also add stuff to it, like wheat germ or wheat bran for extra nutrition, or raisins and cinnamon, or whatever.

The starter is easy. Just put a cup of flour (rye flour works the best) and a cup of warm water in a container. Every day, add another half a cup of each. After a few days, it will get bubbly and smell sour. Then it’s ready! Just keep feeding it every day (with the flour and water). If you get too much, just pour it out. Or you can stash it in the fridge and only feed it once a week if you don’t bake very often (after it’s good and bubbly). I just googled ‘sourdough’ and came up with a lot of good sites to learn how to do this. I’ve had my starter going for several months now.

Convert,

Maybe you should swallow your pride and ask relatives for help. They would be sick if they knee the stress you two are going through. The stress will definitely aggravate your anxiety, depression and maybe even your asthma.

If the tables were reversed, you would want to help your family out.

We have…time and time again…and have received much help already. I hate to max out our welcome! :blushing:
