They said the same about saint John Paul II when he took unprecedented steps at dialogue with other religions. [But he was a saint, had witnessed the holocaust and eastern bloc.]
And saint John Paul II said himself:“With some sects no real dialogue is possible.”
As far as “pastoral care” for the homosexuals in the flock goes, the church is yet again and as always faced with an exceedingly difficult question. I don’t have a formed opinion, I feel that whatever the course of events it will take time and we should trust the church. I also feel, for the most part this is yet another “non-issue” requiring but an act of contrition from the sinners whom it may concern. In the meanwhile, controversy is sure to be stirred up. And I do understand the complexitie that arises from mixing the sacred with the “profane” - this much is invariant across issues.
They say “there is a party in heaven for a sinner that repents” more joy for the “sheep that is found” than for 99 not needing finding.
I keep with saying, I don’t have a formed opinion on the matter nor do I feel forced to form an opinion.
