And woe betide us all if it does.

Truth is Truth, even if only one believes. You’re welcome to delude yourself all you wish.

Way to tap-dance around the question. I’ll repeat it again: How do you call yourself Christian when you disregard very basic tenets, traditions and laws of the Christian deposit of faith??

You’re doing a great many of us a disservice. I say to you: Hide and watch us.

Indeed, and a Happy Thanksgiving to you. Thank you for your service to our country.

Injustice, trampling of religious rights, and murdering babies by the score…yup. Gotta love those secular societies.
Your comment in over-sized bold text violates forum rules.

I don’t feel any need whatsoever to justify myself or my beliefs to you.

Didn’t know that, sorry.
I was talking about you questioning his self identification as a Christian, not the font size. It’s not allowed. You can argue specifics on how his views do not agree with Christian theology and teachings, but we aren’t allowed to question another user’s self identification to a faith or how seriously they take that faith.

So, you do prefer a theocracy. Why don’t you move to Afghanistan. The Helmand Province is lovely this time of year.

Well, I consider that unfortunate. So be it.

Herrings don’t get much redder than this. Can you please explain, point by point, why a devout Catholic would find a move to Afghanistan to be a good idea? Please include detailed notes about how Islam and Catholicism are one and the same, with citations.

And after that, can you please describe exactly how it is that our horribly secularized society here in America hasn’t made Convenience and Pleasure it’s new gods, operating in effect as a theocracy to the whims of self?

Your feelings on the matter really don’t enter into the picture given that you are not the owner of this site. If you are unable to comply with simple forum rules for a site on which you are a guest, I hardly think you are in any position to question another user’s faith. I pointed out your violation of the rules out of Christian charity, but if you like I can contact the moderators and let them resolve the issue.

I let it drop (too late to delete the comments), and the mods will do what they feel is best. I don’t take kindly to bullying, however, so keep in mind that the report function works both ways, and I will use it if you continue to harass me. This thread has become toxic, so I’m out.

This has to be the most facile argument that I’ve seen in regard to a sexual act: It serves no purpose, therefore it should be made illegal.

But hang on. Maybe you think that all this useless sex is only perfomed between two men or two women. When you say you want to ban all useless acts, do you mean just between gays?

Because if it’s between men and women as well it covers everything that everyone does all the time that doesn’t directly involve conception. No oral sex either? How on earth do you personally decide?
Your relativism clouds your vision.

If you are talking sodomy, then you need to take three giant steps backwards to show that it is a bad act, with bad consequences.
It is bad for public morals. It was banned for years and years for good reasons.
If we adopt the libertarian views which the US was founded on, then the bad must be to others, not to those engaged in the act. For example, smoking is banned in public due to second hand smoke effects. Prior to the understanding of those effects, it was legal in public. Yet, we know of the deleterious effects to those who choose to smoke. It is not banned, even though we know the impact on our healthcare system, which is a cost burden that we all carry.
If you view good/bad as only direct physical harm then your position would make sense. But, we are not mere libertarains that embrace pan sexualism and sexual libertinism as “freedom” and acceptable.

Please remember that charity is essential to our discussions here. Thank you for your cooperation. This thread is now closed.
