That’s it! Is the phenomena of change accountable?
In the context of my post it’s more clear. The quote in it gave two possibilities:
  1. If the eternal matter theory was correct and at a point it started to change. what initiated the change? and
  2. If correct but has always changed, you have an infinite regression.
It’s very simple. It’s not so much about the matter but the motion. Using the word “change” in the broadest, most encompassing sense, like, say you would truth, or goodness, I’m asking if change is accountable. Obviously, for most of us here that answers is going to be yes. But in the context of this thread I think it’s appropriate.

If change isn’t accountable but happens, then all inquiry is pointless. If it is accountable, the burden is on them. God does not change.

There is more and more scientific and cosmological evidence of the Big Bang theory. And in that theory, the universe and all created things in it had a beginning.

Please note that there is a high probability that the shape of the universe is flat hence infinite (yet expanding - more space) and if so was born infinite.

Do you mean, like a table-top that consists of points?

How about just looking at the physics? What do you think “matter” is?
Hello, Julia:

You’ve made some great points. It appears that matter may well be the proverbial “figment of our imaginations!” All physical matter consists of atoms. Atoms consist of point particles. Point particles are dimensionless points, immersed in an unintelligible nothingness that is approximately 50,000 times larger than the atom’s nucleus. Where’s the beef? In other words, where’s the mass? One should be able to pinch an atom into complete annihilation!
Whatever the answer, when you analyze that down it’s components, there’s nothing there. Reality, as some call Time, is just an event horizon.
Space consists of point particles, in my opinion as well as the opinions of many physicists. (Consider: how else could a huge, but not infinite, amount of them be squeezed into a singularity?) These point particles are separated from each other (the universe is expanding). I, and others, think that the nothingness in the gaps between point particles is God, seen by us as infinite nothingness.

In this way, as Yppop contends, God remains coterminous with His creation(s).

Hard to refute this.

jd

If matter has always existed, there are two histories to consider:

1.) A history in which matter has always existed, but began to change – but how could it have begun to change?
2.) A history in which matter has always existed, and has always changed – but this would entail the logical impossibility of an infinite regression.

Accountable according to what criteria, accountable by whom, by which ablative of agency? Is any thing other-than-change accountable? Is permutability the universal predicate of the extant? Is change the aseity of the ontic?
🤷
