On the Hagia Sofia

Quick question: Hagia Sofia can be translated either as Saint Sophia or Holy Wisdom. Which is the more correct translation in regards to the motherchurch of the Greek Orthodoxy stolen by the muslims? Is it the Church of Holy Wisdom or the Church of Saint Sophia, dedicated to an actual person?
 
Sorry, I meant to post this in the Eastern forum but went here by mistake. Could a kind moderator please moved it for me? :o
 
I took a class in humanities/arts from my secualar college. I learned that it was not a church dedicated to a person, but it pertains to God’s holy wisdom, so it was dedicated to God. I don’t know if that makes sense, but I hope it helped a little bit.

There were to be three big churches in Constaintinople, Holy Wisdom (Agia Sofia, not St. Sophie), Holy Peace (Agia Eirene, not St. Irene), and Holy Power (Agios Dynamis), for Our Lord under three titles, “O Christ, Great and most holy Pascha, O Wisdom, Peace, and Power of God…” as one Paschal (Easter) hymn puts it.

I don’t think the third ever got built.

There is, however, the Holy Martyr Sophia (Wisdom) and her three virgin daughters, Faith, Hope, and Love (Pistis, Elpis, and Agape).
