I thought the seller’s description of this item might bring a chuckle or two.

Unusual metal statue of a scholarly Chinese Mandarin seated on a stone bench reading a book. The Mandarins were the gentry of imperial Chinese society, who as scholars and bureaucrats served in the Chinese government under the Emperor; until they were disbanded in the 20th century. This figurine is large, standing 8.5" tall, on a 4" by 5" wood base, and weighs 1.75 lbs. The statue is cast in a copper washed metal, probably spelter, with very good detail in his buttoned down robe, hat and face. There are some spots of greenish corrosion around his shoulders and the very top of his hat, otherwise the finish is in pretty good condition. I’m not sure of the age, nor am I sure if this is a statue of a real person in Chinese history, or a generic Mandarin, since there is no identification anywhere on the item. This is a mystery from the East, but one worth having. Buy the Mandarin and maybe you can solve it.
