On the third day He rose AGAIN?

Why do we use the word “again” in “on the third day He rose again”? How many times did Jesus rise?

My fallen-away Catholic mother asked me this and I’d really like to give her a good answer.

Dear Kim,

When we say that the man fell down and then got up again, we don’t mean that he got up twice. The Creed uses the word “again” in the same way.
