I’m curious. A few people have raised questions about using unblessed Rosary’s to pray with… because it is sometimes difficult to find a priest or deacon to bless it. I have also tried, a number of times… to get my priest to bless something in the confessional… and he always says “bring it with you on Sunday” (which is difficult, due to my circumstances).

So… my question is… do you think it would be a good idea/suggestion to ask our Pastors to have maybe one Sunday a month… (at ALL Masses on chosen day) where people may bring their Rosary’s, Scapulars, Medals… etc. and have him bless them ALL at one time, from the altar… after Mass has finished?

It seems like a good idea. But not sure if it is allowed. (Anyone know for sure?). 🤷

It’s not bad… what is it about your situation that makes it difficult to bring the stuff you want blessed on a regular Sunday (especially since what you are recommending is still on Sunday…just a little confused…).

I have never had a problem getting something blessed after mass on a Sunday. I just wait around until everyone is almost gone and the I make sure I am last in line to say goodbye to the Priest and ask him then.

Although, if you can make it, it is much easier to do it after a daily weekday mass, as there are less people there and there usually isn’t another mass to occur soon after, so the priest isn’t as rushed.

Hi bean, thanks for your response. I guess this is kind of confusing. Sorry. 😊

My situation is difficult, because I have a disabled mother. And it is a hardship for me to carry items, with us… because I must use both of my hands to steady her as she walks (she uses a walker and a gate belt, much of the time).

Also, I make Rosarys… and I always have a LOT of them to be blessed. I feel that it might become a nuisance for me to bring bags of these Rosarys to be blessed, week after week. And finding a priest during the work week, is usually difficult. Because they are busy, ministering to the sick, etc.

But aside from all of my personal issues… I have noticed several posts at CAF… where people have asked about using UNblessed Rosarys, scapulars… etc. So… it seemed that others were having the same difficulties, as I was.

Thought this might be a solution… so long as it’s not prohibited in any way. 🤷

In your case (having a great deal to get blessed at once) I think it would be better to make an appointment with the priest sometime during the week (or weekend, if he preferred) as many will bless items individually (not a bunch of rosaries at once, for instance, but one at a time). Although, I could be wrong, maybe someone else will know & post, but I was taught to believe that once the blessed item changed hands, it needs to be blessed again. So, even though you are having your rosaries blessed, once you give them away (or sell them) they would need to be blessed again once the new owner got them. The blessing doesn’t carry over. Again, maybe I am wrong. I’ll have to do some research if no one else knows.

Thanks again, for your kind interest.

I’m surprised at the above statement, though. I believe the blessing is good… even if you give the item away. One example I can think of… are the Carmelite Friars. They will send out (free) blessed scapulars, if requested. Isn’t that the same thing, as giving away blessed Rosary’s? 🤷
