Once saved, always saved?

A more accurate way of putting it would be: * "a Calvinist teaching that asserts that once persons are truly ‘born of God’, or ‘regenerated’, nothing in heaven or earth “shall be able to separate (them) from the love of God”*
And what other way it is to know this other than on the day of final judgement?

A Calvinist would quote a verse like John 10:27-30.

Then a Catholic would fire back wiith something like Hebrews 10:26.

And around and 'round we go…😦

Then why not go with 2000 years instead of only hundreds? How anyone can choose Calvin over Peter is beyond me.

God bless you.

We don’t need to go around. Only our Lord knows. To say otherwise is to claim to know the mind of God. In the mean time we have to remain in Him and work out our salvation with fear and trembling, considering that we have not already attained it or that we are already perfect, but pressing on because Christ has made us His own and to persevere to press on towards the goal: Christ Jesus.

For salvation is nearer now than when we first believed [Romans 13:11]

(Not just Hebrews but from John, Philippians, Romans).

Peace,

Seems to me we have a mystery here
Absolutely! That’s what makes it so difficult to get a full and complete grasp on the nature of God in the Trinity, and the Second Person of God (the Logos) in his Incarnation as Jesus!
we become subject to two " gods’…one who is unchanging, and one who dips into our changing time, and changes with effects he executes in our lives he becomes subject to before and after
This is exactly what the Church debated in the first centuries A.D.; this is exactly the reason for all those councils in the first 700 years of the Church! It’s not that there are two ‘gods’; there is one god, in three persons. The second person of the Trinity has two natures, a divine nature and a human nature (as well as a divine will and a human will). So, when we look at the human incarnation of the Logos – Jesus Christ – we don’t say that he’s a different ‘god’ or a different ‘person’…!
.was jesus always the redeemer fixed in eternity even before there was a human reason [before the fall] for him to be as such.
Jesus Christ – the incarnate son of God – only came into existence as a human at the Nativity. But, as the 2nd person of the Trinity, He had existed co-eternally with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. Was God’s plan always in existence? Yes. Was the Incarnate Jesus always in existence? No, but the Logos always existed. (I’m giving you a real headache now, aren’t I? 😉 )
Strange god the father is never seen,he’s a burning bush,a disembodied voice etc
Well, God the Father is never seen, because… He’s purely spirit!

Peace,
And how can you know that is the goal? Because “whoever hears you, hears Me”.

The Catholic Church speaks for Christ.

How can you not?

The “Me” in your equation is Christ. The Church is Christ. Peter was appointed by Christ. The Mass is for Christ.

It is Christ any which way you look at it.

Without Christ we are all nothing. There is no Church, there is nothing.

But more importantly than anything:

John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If a man does not abide in me, he is cast forth as a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire and burned.

Plus: Philippians 3:14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

My point is that you can only trust the Bible because of the authority of the Church, not the other way around.

And who else is saying anything else? Are you confusing me with someone else?

I can quote Scriptures for as long as I want, however I want, whatever chapter I want, whatever verse I want.

There is nothing you can do about it.

Perhaps you don’t know that Catolico is Catholic in Spanish… or perhaps you are looking for someone to flame with.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me.

Another verse about Christ.

Ephesians 2:20 built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord;

I do know that Catolico is Catholic in Spanish.

You need to go have a beer (which I also know is English for cerveza).

Can’t have a cerveza, I’m driving shortly. After which I will have an escocés con agua y hielo.

Watered down Scotch?

Google translate

Oh, Scotch on the rocks.
Yes, but I put a little cold water to make the ice last. Still had some rum, so I’m having a -]rome/-] (freudian slip, lol) rum and coke with a dash of lemon instead.

Sorry for blowing up at you.

Sorry for confusing you with a fundamentalist Protestant. Enjoy your beverages.

15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[a] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature** a slave to the law of sin. (Romans 7: 15-25)

Having a debate this morning with a Pentecostal - This was his main support for the fact that one can not lose their salvation. Although I provided other scripture that proves otherwise, I was regarded to as reading the scripture out of it’s context. So can anyone help with this and suggest a way I can approach and show otherwise??**

I just have to throw this out [sorry about the caps, but i’m a lousey typist]. Grace is a free gift of gods. It is a hard thing to understand,we do not recieve many free gifts here. Now a free gift can not be earned,or merited, most folks understand this! But how many times do we hear, its a free gift but you must accept it,when you say that you have imposed a condition!!!the error light just went on. Heres a totaly free gift… You are running in a marathon, its hot,and you pass a water stand, the attendant comes trackside and throws a bucket o refreshing water on you. You did not ask for the water, nor was their any condition imposed,it was freely given,no strings attached…think about …william bradl

You can ask him if he is claiming to know the mind of God.
