Once "Saved" but then Masturbate = ?

According to many protestant churches, once you commit yourself to Christ you are saved and Jesus will give you the grace to avoid sin. Those who do commit serious sin were never really saved in the first place.

So my question are:
  1. if somebody who is “saved” masturbates are they still saved?
  2. who decides what sins are over looked/excused by God and what ones will result in you not being saved?
 
I don’t believe in once saved always saved (OSAS). I believe in conditional security. However, I don’t think you are correctly stating how a OSAS believer would state things. Let me explain:

Sort of but not quite. As I understand it, a OSAS believer would say that yes Christ does give grace to avoid sin, but even those who are OSAS are not “sinless.” They will still sin; however, they will repent and can never truly “fall away.”

Sinning one time does not constitute “never being saved.” And God does not “overlook” or “excuse” sin. He forgives sin when we confess and repent by virtue of the atoning work of His Son, Jesus Christ.

OSAS adherents believe that a Christian may sin and fall into serious repeated sin; however, eventually they will repent and turn away from said sin. If they do not, they were never saved to begin with.
 
If you accept Christ as your Savior and have sorrow for your sins then you are saved.
Christ died for your sins so that you will have everlasting life.
We are all sinners and we live in a “Fallen World”. We are Human and therefore we will sin and sin again.
Masturbation.
The goal of the Christian life is to be pure in thought and deed. I believe that the issue of masturbation comes down to this. Therefore, I believe that though masturbation under certain circumstances may not be sinful, the desire to be sexually pure and holy should move the Christian to avoid it. Giving in to masturbation can have spiritual consequences and mastering the body can bring great spiritual benefit. Perhaps God did not mention masturbation in the Bible because He is so aware of our sinful tendencies, our situations, difficulties, etc., and desires that we seek holiness and purity by seeking to master our own flesh.
If, however, you are bound by masturbation and war against it because it masters you, then you continually need to go to the cross and ask the Lord to forgive you.
What about Gen. 38:9?
Some wrongly cite Gen. 38:9 where Onan spilled his seed on the ground, as a justification for masturbation. But this is a mistake since this is not dealing with masturbation.
It is about the failure of Onan to give children to Tamar, the widow of his brother, and do his duty to raise offspring in his brother’s name. By refusing his obligation, he sinned.

Sorry you are wrong. Onan was killed by God for what he did (spill his seed) not for what he didn’t do - fulfilling his Levirate duty to his brother. We know this because in Deuteronomy 25 scripture lays out the punishment for not fulfilling ones Levirite duty to his brother - it is public humiliation and not death. So God inflicted death on Onan for spilling his seed.
