I dvr’d the show last night but since then have heard that there is a lesbian scene. Has anyone watched it? I don’t want to watch this series anymore if they are going to do this sort of thing.

It kind of came off that way, but no, it wasn’t a “lesbian” scene. Mulan and Aurora are good friends and the previous season strongly hinted that Mulan had a thing for Aurora’s boyfriend, Philip. I think that that was the real source of attention. Besides, the farthest the scene went was a conversation and a hug.

Honestly, you shouldn’t writing off a whole series just because you heard that one scene might have had gay people in it. There are no gay characters on the show, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t any bad characters. Would you refuse to watch a show if the characters took part in other types of sins? Maybe, but maybe not. We can learn as much from bad behavior as we can from good. It’s on your DVR. Why not just give it a try and decide for yourself?

I’m going to recommend a podcast: onceuponatime.sqpn.com/ It’s an hour-long discussion between three to five people (including a priest) about each episode. The pod cast for this week’s episode hasn’t come out yet, but there’s a good chance that they’ll mention the scene you’re talking about. Maybe they’ll agree with me, maybe not, but it’ll be second opinion for you.

As far as watching scenes with gays and lesbians in them, I have to be honest here, YES I would write off an entire series just because there were one scene that had gay people in it.
Even if they were just talking about the weather? How is this more than a simple irrational prejudice? I mean, we’re not talking about shows about romantic relationships or having sex – simply a character known to be gay, eating tacos, would cause you not to watch a show?

God bless you, but I have to respectfully disagree with this statement. I believe we all have to discern what we are and are not able to handle, and each of us has our own limits sometimes because of personal taste and sometimes because of past and personal experiences.
Which is why I told the OP to watch the episode and decide for himself. One scene in one episode that he can just fast forward through with the DVR is not going to hurt him.
Some people cannot watch violent crime shows, others love them. I have great difficulty watching shows where there is violence against children involved, it makes me physically sick sometimes. As far as watching scenes with gays and lesbians in them, I have to be honest here, YES I would write off an entire series just because there were one scene that had gay people in it.
You never know what may have been in a person’s life experience that may make them uncomfortable. A person should not force themselves to watch a television show that makes them feel uneasy to prove anything, just turn it off, I know I do. Just my two cents, God bless.
I would argue that sex and violence can occur in different degrees. For me, there is a vast difference between a sex scene and two people hugging (which is what actually happened in the show), just as there is a vast difference between a character being beaten to death and a character being slapped across the face. This is why it’s a bad idea to dismiss things based on generalizations such as “I will not watch a show where two women interact in a way that might be romantic.” I have provided my opinion of what was going on as well as a description of how far it actually went (just a hug) and the invited the OP to judge for himself. The worst thing that’s going to happen is that he spends and hour watching a show he doesn’t like.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Wow your post cracked me up! Okay, seriously I wish I could edit my previous post, no I would not avoid a show because there was a homosexual character eating tacos. Good grief, sorry if I gave that impression. What I meant was that I would not watch a show with a **romantic love **scene in it between homosexuals. No desire to see that, not interested, ever.

Maybe that’s not what this show it about but that was my impression, hope that helps.
Makes much more sense. Sorry for misunderstanding you! 👍

Personally, I ask my gay friends to “get a room” whenever they want to eat tacos. 😉
