One man is dead following an explosion at a Tim Hortons restaurant in downtown Toronto.

The blast occurred in the washroom of the coffee shop located near the intersection of Yonge and Bloor Streets, just after 1 p.m.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and tried to help the victim. It is not known if he was a customer or an employee. No other injuries were reported.

Yikes! The headquarters of a very large bank is there, as well as The Bay which was just taken over by a South Carolina magnate. Yonge and Bloor is considered one of the centres of Toronto, although if a terrorist were to really hit centre, he or she would be aiming at Bay Street. However, since the last bomb scare on Bay Street, people are being picked up and charged more readily.

I’ll keep my ears peeled. Thanks gilliam.

I do not think this was a terrorist attack unless the bomb went off prematurely in the washroom. I have a feeling that it was some type of gas explosion (and before anyone says it, I mean natural gas or sewer gas  ).

Yes it could be. What about the reference to a man seeng carrying something strapped to himself?

Here is a photo from CBC of a robot removing a suspicious package from the store north of Yonge and Bloor.

Oh wow. This is weird:

Man dies in explosion at Toronto Tim Hortons
“He’s not a strap-on al-Qaeda bomber guy,” Staff-Sgt. Cole said. “It sounds to me like a guy who either wanted to do a torch job or commit suicide.”

A customer entered the washroom and noticed the smell of gasoline coming from the stall… The customer then saw the gasoline can and fled the washroom only moments before the explosion…

Yep, definately wierd. But doesn’t seem like a terrorist.

I agree. It doesn’t seem like a terrorist. I feel sorry for the guy to have felt his life had come to this.
