It certainly is easier to read the text as its in modern English, including the notes but I have to say that I like the Haydock Commentary and reference to commentary by the Church Fathers. In your sample I don’t know who wrote the commentary.

Is the Haydock commentary a one volume study Bible? That is what this is. I would not compare a study Bible with a Bible commentary, that’s comparing apples and oranges.

I have looked for a specific name or names of who wrote the footnotes, and what I have found is a reference to “Catholic scholars under the patronage of the Episcopal Committee of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine.”

The Haydock commentary is one big book. I think the one volume book is fairly new. I have the commentary in 2 volumes. They actually call it the Holy Catholic Bible with comprehensive Catholic commentary.

I have the St. Joseph’s DR confraternity study bible that was my mothers published in 1962.

I have the Saint Joseph textbook edition Confraternity Version
I really like it.

the OT with the first Eight books, the Seven Sapiential Books and the Eighteen Prophetic Books are the same as the NAB. In the bible it is called Confraternity-Douay. And the New Testament; Confraternity Version, a revision of the Challoner-Rheims Version by Catholic Scholars under the Patronage of the Episcopal Committee of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine.

Sounds like we have the same bible. I really like the JB best and the NAB least.

Where would you get one? I tried to do a search but it kept bringing up the new version of the Douay R.
 
I know that the Confraternity versions only translated some of the old testament. And they included their own footnotes to the books that they translated (am I right?). Are there any Confraternity bibles that have footnotes/studynotes for the books that the Confraternity didn’t translate? If so, do you know of any that I can buy?
