Lutheran Use, I’d think. Analogous to Anglican Use.It means Lutherans coming home as Lutheran rite.
And sounds like you are following the Anglo-Lutheran Catholic Church.

I rejoice the full communion among Orthodox, The holy synods of the Eastern Church.Good point, PRmerger.
If I might piggy-back on that I would say, EC, that your post indicates not only that we are not yet united, but also that we are not terribly close – if we were, then it wouldn’t make sense for you leave Lutheranism for Catholicism.
(For an example of Churches being very close, see the letter quoted here.)
Actually Lutheran liturgies tend to be similar to Catholic [Gelineau/ Marty Haugen/ Taize] so there is no particular rite or chant. I noticed that there was a time when the Danish throne insisted that Lutheran and Catholic clergy say Mass together, btw.Lutheran Use, I’d think. Analogous to Anglican Use.

That’s certainly possible – not that I expect it to happen in this country. It would probably be in a country with just one main Lutheran church, with a comparable level of “liberalness” to the EC-USA.Lutheran Use, I’d think. Analogous to Anglican Use.
I’m still guessing it would be Use, under the Latin Rite.Actually Lutheran liturgies tend to be similar to Catholic [Gelineau/ Marty Haugen/ Taize] so there is no particular rite or chant. Not sure. But I recall the gentleman who posted as Bishop (Klinefelter) of the Anglo-Lutheran Catholic Church here, in days of yore. He was pushing an Ordinariate approach. That’s certainly possible – not that I expect it to happen in this country. I am not understanding the reference, ben. Please 'splain! On behalf of liturgical Lutherans, I would like to apologize to our liturgical Catholic friends for for Marty Heugen. We’re still undoing the damage over here.
Of course, you Catholics did fight back with “On Eagle’s Wings.”
Marty H. was a well meaning Lutheran that tried to bring the liturgy forward into modern times - his liturgies and music are used extensively in the ELCA and the Catholic Church. Sadly, they don’t come across being timeless, and to a lot of us, seem like a something out the 1970’s. The phrase “show tunes and treacle” come to mind. You’ve probably been though his “Mass of Creation” - for me, it gives me flashbacks to the summer of love and I wasn’t even born. I can almost smell the polyester.I am not understanding the reference, ben. Please 'splain!

The Catholic composed “On Eagles Wings” has worked it’s way into our hymnals - it’s a nice enough song, but is more emotional and less liturgical - a lot like Marty’s output.
Marty is no longer Lutheran.
No… he’s UCC (United Church Of Christ)Ah, I see.
Thanks for the explanation.
Did Marty convert to Catholicism?
BTW: I love show tunes!![]()
He does have a great voice if you’ve ever heard him.No… he’s UCC (United Church Of Christ)
I like show tunes too! … but at the show!![]()
P.S. Both of you probably haven’t any need to hear this, but for anyone who may be reading, I should have qualified the above by quoting Cardinal Kaspar: “We are not fishing in the Anglican pond” (or, in this case, the Lutheran pond). That’s certainly possible – not that I expect it to happen in this country. It would probably be in a country with just one main Lutheran church, with a comparable level of “liberalness” to the EC-USA.
Yep.I like show tunes too! … but at the show!![]()
Any idea what happened to the several formerly-LCMS congregations that followed him? Guess has been they swam the Tiber with him, but you’re the first person I know to (presumably) have knowledge of the situation. Not sure. AFAIK, he’s a RC layman now.

He has a wiki page, from which I took that info, some time back. And, checking it tonight, it seems he is now (as of Nov 2013) back in the Anglo-Lutheran Catholic Church, as a Metropolitan Bishop Emeritus. And I know of no parishes from that body who went Rome-ward. But then again, what do I know.Any idea what happened to the several formerly-LCMS congregations that followed him? I have a hunch – just a hunch – that people won’t ever stop paying attention to him, no matter what he does.He has a wiki page, from which I took that info, some time back. I was going to check the last time he appeared here, but I can’t recall his board name.I have a hunch – just a hunch – that people won’t ever stop paying attention to him, no matter what he does.
I was kind of wondering about that.Added: Well, one problem is that I’ve been calling him Klinefelter.
I attribute it to age. Whatever it was.I was kind of wondering about that.![]()
