Being one of Random Thoughts concerning my Faith and the Wider World around me,

I have a Question concerning this prayer that says ,

I Believe in one Holy Catholic and Apostolic church,

Could people please explain this terminology ,is the Apostolic church separate or the same

Phil at Dayboro, to answer your question, apostolic simply means that our church comes to us through the apostles. It comes from Christ to us through an uninterrupted succession of bishops and popes that Jesus instituted. He chose the apostles, and they in turn chose bishops to carry on the leadership (guidance, shepherding) of the church after they died, and those bishops chose their successors, and so on until the present day. This is called the apostolic succession.

The church is One, because there is only one. Represents the unity within the church. . Jesus did not created two or three churches. He created one body and the one body is the catholic church. It is Holy because its origin is divine. It was created by Jesus himself who was God. Because God created it we say it is Holy. It is catholic because is universal. And as mentioned before, it is apostolic because of the apostolic succession.

Perhaps some punctuation would help.
We believe in a church that is One.
That is holy.
That is catholic (small c = universal).
and that is apostolic.
