“No devout Catholic, no practicing Catholic, can be in favor of abortion”

“You can’t say … privately, ‘I think it’s wrong’ — I imagine he means by that, as a Catholic, he thinks it’s wrong — but then, in his public life, he can act as if it’s not morally evil.”

“It’s one of the greatest moral evils”

Love Cardinal Burke. He is one of the greatest and most outspoken Catholic hierarchy in the US and the world honestly. Along with a few other greats of course.

It is important to say we oppose abortion, but it is critical that we act as if we believe what we say. This is especially true for the church, and in this area the record of her priests and bishops is decidedly spotty.

at least they agreed, this past fall, to prioritize abortion as the premier issue and not mix it one among many.

You can tell how low the bar has been set when we’re upbeat about the bishops doing what is obviously the right thing.

I live in NY and it disgusts me that our Governor is allowed to receive communion. No one who votes for abortion should be allowed to receive the body of Christ.

perhaps a better way to look at it would be to pity the NY Governor, and pray that he is prevented from receiving the Eucharist unworthily. The end is the same, but our focus should be on the Governor’s soul.

I agree with this. I would like bishops and priests to remind all of us, not just those who promote abortion, that the Bible has strong words for those who take Communion unworthily. Ultimately, it is their souls at stake. I would wager that many are doing this Sunday after Sunday. We should worry about their souls and make sure we are receiving worthily!

By this logic we are obligated to vote for someone like Joe Walsh in the primaries since he is opposed to all abortions unlike Trump who allows for whatever passes for rape and incest.

Trump isn’t prolife at all. “I am pro-choice in every respect.” That’s how he described himself before he needed to adopt the duplicitous approach for political gain. It turns my gut the same way that Joe Bidens duplicitousness does.

In fact it brings to my mind the 3rd temptation of Christ in the wilderness. The devil picked up on what Jesus really wanted which was to bring all people to the kingdom of heaven. The cunning demon saw that Jesus was tired, hungry, thirsty and bedraggled and saw his opportunity to win him over to his side. The devil took Jesus to a mountain and showed Him the ‘dream’. Everything He wanted to achieve. ‘All this I will give you,’ he said, ‘if you will bow down and worship me.’* The rest is history though.

But for simple people like we mortals there is always the motto “if something seems too good to be true it probably is”.

Cardinal Burke is awesome. A friend has him for a spiritual director.

Well, we can forcibly deny someone from receiving communion physically, but that individual could still make a “spiritual communion” in his/her heart.
As the saints tell us – that’s almost as significant and deep.
Moral: Better leave it to God to judge…

For someone who isn’t pro-life, Pres. Trump has sure done a lot to stop or at least greatly hobble the abortion industry in the U.S. Please read the list that Marc Thiessen posts in this column.

And please keep in mind that Pres. Trump isn’t gaining anything politically by declaring himself pro-life. Just the opposite–he is losing lots of potential votes. He is especially infuriating women who have fallen for the pro-choice lies. Just last weekend, many thousands of these women marched in many cities throughout the U.S. (including my city), and there were myriads of anti-Trump sentiments expressed in posters, t-shirts, and through vocal proclamations. Women are more likely to vote than men, and Pres. Trump is definitely going to be in danger of losing the female vote in November.

As I said in another post, many of us were once pro-choice and voiced the same sentiment as Pres. Trump once did. We have changed our minds–would you hold our past against us? The President’s current actions speak much much louder than his past words.

We have to be more discerning than that or everyone would have followed the Pharisees into hell with them.
his actions are an attempt to reduce abortions.

his opponents will attempt to make abortions easier.

which actions are more biblical?
