One person dies when they're young; another person dies when they're old. Why?

A person who has lived a hundred years on Earth will be in the hereafter like one who has just been born, or a very young person the same. Our time in this world is like time in the womb: life really begins afterwards. Nobody really dies old or young except in our earthly view. We each have an appointed hour and we don’t know when that is. The reason is that our lives don’t belong to us, but to God. The only time we have certainty of our own death is if we unlawfully take the life given to us in our own hands, such as through euthanasia.
 
I voted it is #1. determined by God.

#2. is really part of it… they completed their purpose in life.
 
God takes us when it is most advantageous for our souls, at least that’s what Ive heard… Of course there is also the problem of humans interfering with God’s plans so…
 
A life shouldn’t be judged merely by its quantity, but by its quality first and foremost.

I love the Oz books, but have always found that comment annoying. Clearly it’s wrong. We are measured by how much we love, as Christ did. He loves people who don’t love him, and keeps on loving until they are changed.
Mr. Baum, the author, wrote lovely books but sometimes a little skewed.

The same can be said for the line from the Beatles song The End; “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.” Many try to make it out to be something grand and insightful but it is really just a load of schmaltz.

As for the Wizard of Oz, it’s just a kids story…no need to make it more than what it is. 🙂
