Hello Everyone!

I love being Catholic. I am proud to be catholic. It makes me happy and brings me comfort.

However, one reason is that Mary is so important to the church. I am so happy about that. I have always believed that women and men on earth were different but equal. Many churches (I feel) seem to think that women are somehow less, unequal. This may or may not be true, but its how I feel. “I’m the man, you have no opinion, just do what you’re told”

Mary, Gods mother, so important in leading people to her son. WOW! We women have such an important role, following her example, leading the children, and others to Jesus! It feels great knowing that I can follow Marys example and help others find Jesus. Its wonderful knowing God can use me to help others.

Being Catholic what I love best about me!

Thanks for letting me share my opinion and feelsings!

Monica

Is this a futile attempt with sarcasm?

Whoa Ken. I detected no sarcasm whatsoever in Monica’s comment. Are you having a bad day after Christmas or what? Read it again, I think she was most sincere. I am sorry if some of that seems dissonant to you.

One reason I love being Catholic is it gives us something to do when things are not going well. I refer to the classic “offer it up”. Moms, aunts, and Nuns were most significant in teaching me that. I did it kind of rotely as a child. As I have grown older, it is more profound. First of all it allows me to join my minor pain to the pain Christ suffered for us. Second, it allows me a way of letting go of fear, resentment, etc that could accompany distress if I did not have something more positive to do with it and thus regain a sense of serenity, and finally there is something to the redemptive value of suffering. I should say that these things are not limited to physical pain, but also to the pain of loss, of imperfections, of feeling badly over imperfections. of being criticized, fairly or unfairly. etc.

Thank you for starting this wonderful thread, Monicabay! Oh, also, welcome to Catholic Answers Forum! 👋 I pray that you will be blessed by your membership.

If I may, I would like to add one reason I am thankful to be joined to the one holy, catholic and apostolic Church: the guidance of the Magisterium with respect to doctrine.

2 Peter 1:20-21: “Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation, for no prophecy ever came through human will; but rather human beings moved by the Holy Spirit.”

There are a bewildering number of Protestant denominations that seem to be continually splintering along doctrinal lines. I am grateful that the Catholic Church teaches us the truth inspired by the Holy Spirit.

I love coming into the Church for a couple of things. The History of the Church is awe inspiring to me. Traditions and Sacraments that grow ones faith and leads one to a state of Holiness to have a mind and life of Christ is huge. You have to also love the Community aspect of the Church and it is a Universal Community. The fact I can attend any church in any city and join right in is fantastic and is something you really cant find in most protestant churches. The simple Fact we Honor the Blessed Mother and all the Saints really moves me. Also the Beauty of the Church which is purely breath taking.

Whoops the title of the Thread was ONE reason I love being Catholic, For me there really isn’t only one thing.:amen:

Yes, I love all those things, too (and the aspects of Catholicism mentioned by Monicabay and Ohana)! So many things to be thankful for in the Catholic Church! 🙂

All I have to say about all of this is AMEN!!! I LOVE being Catholic, and for so many reasons! I love the depth of Catholicism. Always leaves me in such wonder when I learn something new, or when things just click! The Communion of Saints…amazing to me…how heaven celebrates with us, here on earth. I love how we have those in heaven cheering us on and praying for us.

I totally understand what you are saying Monica! 😃

Thanks everyone. I am most sincere in my comments. I LOVE who I am, who God made. and I am so grateful to be part of this church.

I’m sorry some of you believed I was trying to be sarcastic, and doing a bad job at that. Hurts my heart that people can be so harsh. Enough of the negativity.

Happy New Year!

The first response set me back, and hurt my feeling. I am rather sensitive, and I need to let things go.

I did go back and read the other posts, and I see others have great reasons for loving the Catholic Church! I am so happy to have this board.

Let me just clarify that I finally changed my username to reflect my real name, Monica, instead of what I had, monia (no c) It was really annoying! LOL! I have been a member since 2007. I just love this board!

I love being Catholic too. I’m hard pressed to come up with only one reason, but here goes.I love the Communion of Saints.

I grew up Baptist, and my parents and most of our good friends are Baptists. I know many Baptists who are devoted to Jesus, and who truly strive to live good Christian lives. However, I can’t help but feel a little pity for them because they don’t get to experience real communion with Holy men and women of God that have gone before us.

Peace,

Yes, The Blessed Mother and all the Saints…the sweet aroma of the incense of Prayer offered up to the Most Holy Lord, Thy Will be done…Amen!

Peace

one of the things that makes me so proud and happy to be a Catholic is how loving and open our Church, or rather Christ’s Church is to the world. The other day I went to midnight mass for Christmas, and I was amazed at how other people of different faiths were welcomed in and amongst us at church, allowed to join in songs and hymns of praise, and to view the Catholic life. I almost lost my way to islam for a time (about 10 months), but I can say that it is a religion that is nowhere as beautiful, as peaceful, as welcoming, and as true as our own Catholic Faith. They do not let (at least easily) foreigners enter their sacred cities, their mosques are for them and them only to pray, and they view the rest of the world and religions in general as hypocrites. But our religion is one of peace and love, and we share it with all, even if they are ignorant and harmful against us, we still open up ourselves to love them more. Blessed be Christ’s Church for all the generations, for we are God’s Chosen people, we are the Children of Christ, we are the vessels that carry the Word and live it daily! And yes, you are right, women do share a magnificent and beautiful and important role in our church, I as a man am willing to admit I am not as devout, as chaste, as magnificent as God’s women in our church, not only the sisters and the nuns, but in general, it is the Catholic women of the world that set an example, and all without a need of a burqa or a veil… Blessed be God’s Church for the generations. We are the Catholic Church, we are the Universal Church, we are the Church of Christ!

Yes, Ken - Monica is being sincere. I agree with Ohana.

:heaven:

So many wonderful and beautiful reasons were given for why we love to be Catholic. But I have to say that the main reason I love being Catholic is that I get to receive the Holy Eucharist, the actual body and blood of Jesus Christ. The Holy Eucharist is the most personal relationship a person can possibly have with Christ. What reason could be better?

I’m not sure of the direction of this original post as this is the “non-catholic religions” forum…but good for you! I love my faith as well!!! No matter our differences we have Jesus in common!😃

Women priestesses have been utilized only in pagan religions, but not Judeo Christianity.

If Christ wanted women to be priests, He would have had them there at the Last Supper.

Woman is the protected gender. See how men who are under the bondage of original sin consider the witness of women…they are the ones who cause the fratricide, who fill the prisons…

I remember hearing a priest tell us how he was put in jail because of his attending a pro life demonstration. When they found out he was a priest, they went to him for confession with a toilet in the middle of the room. I just can’t see a woman priestess in there hearing confessions…

But there is a movement to reconsider the use of women deacons.
