That was my first thought too!! :rotfl:

Sorry Marilena I couldn’t resist that little chuckle. I know this thread is serious. It is an interesting question. I find it odd when I ask a basic question of JWs and cannot get a straight answer no matter who I ask. I am going to ask it next time I get a knock at my door. Could it be it just doesn’t matter to them? Though I would think that it should matter if it is asked by any of their members.
This brings up another interesting question…

They say only 144000 people will get a ticket to Heaven. Given that the entire JW organization has about 6.6 milion members (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jehovah’s_Witnesses), substract 144000 and there you have it : 6,456,000 members who do not stand a chance to be saved ( at least this is what a simple calculus will indicate).
I wonder if they are aware of that! … it would seem pointless to come to my door to convert me
JW problem becomes a simple math problem…

Alex.

JW’s acknowledge that except for the 144,000 that go to heaven, all the rest of them will live forever on earth, after it has been transformed into a paradise. I guess they’re okay with that. I wouldn’t be. I want to be with Jesus and will settle for nothing less!

I wouldn’t settle for anything less either! Now, back to your point So, if only 144,000 are going to go to heaven, that still does not explain why God took Enoch. If 144,000 are only going to heaven, then why did Elijah and one other come to the Transfigured Christ? do they think that the images of them ( not Christ ) just appeared and were not really Elijah and so on?

Did not Enoch go to heaven when God took him? If not, did God leave him in a state of limbo until Christ was ressurected gloriously? That’s basically what I’d like to know. Perhaps we could ask a priest here to respond to this. I know i will most definitely ask my priest after Mass next week, if he has time 🙂

enoch was sent to krypton to teach them about the one true god (they called him RAO). It became the standard faith of krypton for a 1000 years till the people started to fall away from it and into secularism (of course Gen.Zod wanted to return to the worship of the older pre-enoch gods) then krypton was destroyed.

everyone knows this.

Ayuh right, not.

Hey my kryptonian theory is just as valid as pretty much anything russelites believe. Plus at least Superman is cool.

Maybe they won’t tell coz they’re envious? :D. As far as I remember they hold that the places in Heaven are limited: 144000 tops. Enoch was taken to Heaven - that means only 143999 seats are left and they don’t wanna discourage people. 😃
:rotfl:

So how does this explain that Elijah wrote a letter to a king some years later after he was caught up in a whirlwind? God revealed what happened to Enoch when He gave us more detail in Elijah. This is not a great mystery. Neither died physically at the point you are referring to. Nor were they put in some trance. Where the hell did that nonsense come from?
That’s always been my understanding, as well. It also makes it easier to explain the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary to non-believers.

Yeah, but they think Jesus is really St. Michael the Archangel, and that he is floating around in the upper atmosphere.

Actually, as a former jw, I can answer that very well. Witnesses believe that Jesus is Micheal, and they believe not about the upper atmosphere, but they believe He has returned invisibly.

They do not specify anything about the upper atmosphere, but that He is in heaven, and that His return was not seen by the human eye, but through eyes of faith. They claim that there are signs that point to His return, such as world war 1 when they
alledge the devil was cast down to earth having great anger knowing he has a short period of time, thus the outbreak of worldwar 1. They say that Christ had invisibly returned, and cast the devil down to the vicinity of the earth. The Bible clearly states that when Christ does return, every eye will see Him, so their reasoning is not logical. Regarding Jesus being Micheal, they use Daniel as proof in point. Saying that Micheal, the Prince of Peace is Jesus. Take a look towards the end of the book of Daniel, and there you will see why they claim Jesus is Micheal. They have also calculated a certain amount of time that has passed by as well as in Daniel, which points to the return of Christ invisibly. They have an estimated 2850 some odd days I believe, that they calculate “a day for a year, a day for a year” and point to the OT where it states that 1 day is as a thousand years to God. Meaning that they took this time period in the book of Daniel about 2850 some odd days, and added each day as a thousand years until Christ returned invisibly. It is all very confusing, but they have according to them, pin pointed the exact date that He returned, and that date came to about 1914, and therefore the devil was cast out upon Christ returning invisibly, and cast down to earth, and ww1 broke out as a result of the devil being cast down. The Bible clearly states in the NT about the return of Christ, that no man knows the hour or the day, not the Son nor even the angels know but only the Father who is in heaven knows the time and date that Christ will return. So there logic there if you can call it logic on their saying He is Micheal, and the time for the return is way off, and they have no proof He is Micheal, nor do they have proof He has returned “invisibly:”. Their logic is flawed. They contradict what Christ said about His return. Therefore they are a false belief as we all know. Here is a link from their site what they believe about the devil returning, and ww1, and part of it states about Christ being Micheal:

Transfiguration: A Vision
Of course, the prophets Moses and Elijah were not actually there with Jesus on that lofty mountain when he was thus transformed before the three apostles. Moses and Elijah were still dead, still in Hades, the common grave of mankind. What the three apostles saw was merely a vision, not an actuality. (Let Your Name Be Sanctified; 1961; pp. 250)

When I saw the title to this post I really thought it would be about Mary.

I thought she was the biggest thing Jw’s dont like to discuss.
Me: What do you think of Mary? Was she the----
Mother of God?
Jw: no just a woman

the biggest thing they do like to discuss is how Catholics believe in a 3 headed god.
Me: I believe in the Trinity.
Jw: You mean the 3 headed god? There is no Trinity. Who could believe such a complicated notion like that?
Me: Are you really a Muslim?

Me:Jesus is God
Jw: Nope. Archangel Michael.
Me: you sound simmilar to a Muslim who also denies Jesus’ divinity

Me: We dont know when the world is going to end
JW: oops! We predicted it so many times, that this might give us away as false prophets!

Me: What is your paradise (same word as Muslims use for describing heaven)
going to be like?
Jw: well, we are going to have to clean up the earth first,

Me: What? Clean up? How can this be done? Impossible! I die so I can be a Maid to clean up this freaking armpit of an earth? Where am I going to put the nuclear waste?

Me: The Holy Spirit is a good thing
Jw: well, more like a force, like electricity

Me: let the force be with you and get the hell out of here now!

Jw: we dont believe in a Hell…

Me: You will when you get there!
