Hi all,

I’ve been recently listening to Michael Voris’s One True Faith series and have been very impressed by his passion and the forthrightness of his presentation. Having said that, I also feel his theology tends to be either inaccurate, left-field or just too simplistic. I’d love to know what others who have watched or heard the series think.

God bless.

I’ve seen Voris speak. I find him to be divisive, accusatory, uncharitable and callous. I do not recommend that him to others, in fact when I hear of others thinking of going to a Voris event or listening to him talk, I recommend an alternative.

Has anyone on CAF even bothered to get a ChurchMilitant.TV premium account? I’m not here to promote the site. I would like someone to tell me if stuff besides The Vortex is particularly abrasive.

I listen to many of Mr. Voris’s shows via podcast and even though plenty of his theology is spot-on, when it comes to saying it in a charitable way, he has a lot to learn. That old saying of “it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it” rings considerably true for Mr. Voris. When I listen to his shows, I just don’t hear much love at all in his voice but rather trying to prove people wrong. Imagine being somebody on the fence between Protestantism and Catholicism tuning in to watch him. He really isn’t doing any favors to the church with the way he represents himself and, in essence, the church as well.

I was a member for a short period of time. There are hundreds of hours of his training seminars and such about church history, the Eucharist, Mary, etc. If you think the Vortex is abrasive, I don’t think you would have made it through the church history series. I know I didn’t. I got to part 13 when he started openly laughing with glee about a heretic being burned at the stake and I couldn’t take it anymore. I canceled my membership shortly thereafter.

I personally like the Chuch Militant programs.I find Michael very straightforward and does not compromise the truth to fain being charitable.Sometimes the truth offends.

I watched a few episodes of “The Vortex” to give it a fair chance, but found it unedifying. What purpose does it serve? I can’t imagine anyone listening to Mr Voris except those who already agree. He makes some valid points, but he comes off as bitter and self-righteous. It may bring encouragement to some disgruntled Catholics, but it may also make them more disgruntled. The Church doesn’t need any more self-appointed trappers and exposers of lies. That’s how the Protestant Revolt started. It isn’t the job of every layman to ferret out the evil in the hierarchy and frequently to criticize the bishops publicly and tell them what they ought to do. Even the pope doesn’t criticize bishops publicly in that manner. I have nothing personal against Mr Voris. He’s probably a good Catholic and, as someone told me, a real gentleman. But the TV persona needs to go.

Put it this way…there is a reason his Bishop revoked his ability to use the word Catholic in his show title. He used to have a show called ‘Real Catholic TV’…no more and for good reason, in my humble opinion.

I understand what you mean, as I can tell by the way he speaks that he doesn’t beat about the bush and his manner can be brusque and undoubtedly offensive. Yeah, the divisiveness bothers me too. For instance, on his show The One True Faith he continually goes on about how only the Catholic Church has the Eucharist, sacraments, etc., and while I get the point he is trying to make (since it is an apologetics show), I don’t appreciate him forgetting the 400-or-so million Orthodox brothers in the faith.

I think it’s good to be blunt but sometimes that can be overly simplistic and, just to make a point, completely inaccurate. Another example is when he stated pretty much de facto that Judas was in hell. And I thought, Hmmm the Church never definitively stated this. Sometimes in one’s zeal to be an apologist for the faith, one takes on the mantle of the Church’s magisterium when one shouldn’t.

Hi Maxirad, I’ve heard some stuff produced by ChurchMilitant TV (on mp3) and it’s quite good. They are passionate, dedicated and charismatic. My only concern is that, in an effort to be all these things, they can stretch the truth a little and say the Church teachings things which it doesn’t necessarily.

He’s definitely blunt and in-your-face, though I don’t think this is always necessarily bad. But I take your point, he could soften the edges a little. I’ve only heard his first few seasons of The One True Faith so far, and his show on Hell freaked me out - not because of the content but his approach was chilling!

His episode of Hell was great from what I remember. I remember him dropping quarters or something every few minutes to illustrate the point of all the people going to Hell during his episode. It’s chilling because it’s true. Hopefully it stirred up some Catholics who weren’t being as faithful as they should and get right with God once again. As you can tell, I am a fan for the most part but if he would just show somewhat of a softer side while giving his messages, he could probably reach a lot more people.

Actually, the episode on Hell doesn’t include the clinking coins; instead, he talks about a hypothetical person who has just died and gone to hell, and how they have begun to burn. Every few minutes he reminds you that ‘James’ has been burning for X minutes, and it will never end. It is chilling.

The clinking coins episode is even more chilling, however; it’s the episode about abortion. Every time you hear the coin clink, another child has been murdered in the womb. It brings tears to your eyes to think about it.

Should we speak of Hell in this way? Absolutely; is there anything more horrifying than eternal damnation? Nothing else even comes close. We SHOULD be terrified of ending up there, and we should be doing everything possible to NOT end up there. By all means, scare the snot out of people.

But the clinking coins? A different, but equally chilling, horror.

We should be terrified, yes, but I think that focusing on it like that can send the wrong message. It will inspire fear, but will it inspire love? Will people want to go to Heaven to be in the presence of God, or because the alternate option is so terrible?

Did you watch any programs where Mr. Voris didn’t appear on camera, curtishouse30?

Do you mean seeing him in person or something like that? I’ve watched plenty of Mr. Voris’s instructional classes on his site and such. Hopefully you can clarify your question a bit more. Thank you.

I meant when someone else other than Voris did the on-camera honors, if you know what I mean. For instance, two people other than Voris currently read the ChurchMilitant.TV news.

BTW, I encourage people to check out the following links:

A significant part of me wants to check out Part 13 of that one series! 😃
