Well I’m happy to say that my big surgery is one week from today! :extrahappy: I’m SO ready for this to be over. I get my colonoscopy tomorrow. I have one more doctor’s appointment with the main surgeon. I got my Anointing from our priest today. I’m ready, ready, READY!

I know this is just the beginning and it will be a difficult recovery, a week at the hospital, then 6-8 weeks at home, aging 30 years in a single day (menopause), but I hope and pray it is the beginning of a whole new (and improved!) life for me. 👍 :gopray2:

Please continue praying for me. I need all the prayers I can get! :o

Waiting for this with you. Glad to hear you’re in positive spirits. You got my prayers on this. For sure.

Peace Convert. Hope all goes well!

Good Luck… Everything will be okay because Jesus is in your corner… Prayers for you and your family.

Hang in there and get well soon. By Valentine’s Day this should be behind and you will start feeling like yourself again, but better! :flowers:

Thank you all! :grouphug:

I just learned today that my surgery is going to be more difficult than I originally thought. I’m to have an open abdominal surgery with a large vertical incision. Required hospital stay is at least five days, plus a 6-8 week at home recovery. That’s without complications! I am having the diseased parts of my colon removed and depending how much they have to take I may need a colostomy bag for a while, and there’s a slight chance I may need it permanently. Then of course the hysterectomy, Oophorectomy, and the surgical menopause at 33. It’s making my head spin with worry and anxiety. I feel like I’m in way over my head, but I have no choice as I’m not able to function anymore I’m in such pain. I need tons of prayers please. I have an anxiety disorder anyways and this is not helping at all. 😦

I’m doubling up on the prayers for you Convert. We’ve got to turn this into a good Christmas present. Not a bad one.

Peace Convert.

You can do it! It’ll be a rough couple of months, but I have no doubt you’ll pull through with flying colors. Focus on how very, very much better you’ll feel in just a couple of months!

BTW, you still have time to plant 4-5 chairs around your home: next to bed, next to table, next to le throne. Lean on them and use your arms to lift and stand, rather than your abdomen. Fellowship hall chairs tend to be a good size and shape for this.

Feel better soon!

Ooooooooh, good idea!

Another thing: ask your doctor about an abdominal binder. I’m not a doc, so I have no idea if it’s indicated or contraindicated in your case (thus the “ask your doctor” bit 😉 ) but when I had a cesarean section, my abs felt like they weren’t there at all. Very disconcerting feeling, to say the least, and you’d be amazed how many things you use your abs for. Just standing or walking, never mind getting up/sitting down was exhausting. However, with an ab binder (think a long ace bandage, reaching from ribcage to pelvis, that velcros together), I could manage walking and so on, as I felt supported. It also helped keep everything in place so that I wouldn’t tear anything. If your doctor is cool with it, I suggest getting 2-3 of them so that you can have one or two in the wash and still be wearing them.

Prayers for you! I, too, was in a similar situation at a young age, not too long ago, but you’ll make it through! It takes a bit of adjustment, but you’re likely to feel so much better when everything’s said and done. Pray to the Blessed Mother, and my prayers are with you!

Thank you all so much for your encouragement, support and prayers! :grouphug:

I know this has been such a trial for you! I wish you a wonderful outcome and certainly a pain-free life!

Last-minute purchases: ask DH to pick up a reaching tool. This one from Bed, Bath, and Beyond has a metal arm, protected hinges so it won’t pinch your fingers, and even a magnet to pick up pins. It’s about $20. Also ask him to pick up some Gas-X or equivalent brand. They introduce a lot of air during surgery (guess where it comes out!) but not all hospitals have this little item.

By this time tomorrow you will be feeling better. 🙂

I will do. If they let me due to the peel resectioning they might not let me at first.

As for the abdominal pain I know well from past abdominal surgeries. They are giving me an epidural this time to help with pain since it will be extra intense having so much done at once. :o

Good idea on the grabber. I will check with the hubs.

I already am a fan of Gas-x. It has been a lifesaver with all my tummy troubles through the years. 😉

So I’ve thrown up twice today. Probably nerves and taking antibiotics on an empty liquid only diet belly. Pray they still let me get the surgery tomorrow! Thanks! 🙂
