I havent posted in a while. I hope all of you are doing well!

Well I have some wonderful news to share. I am 6 weeks pregnant & due in May! We are so excited to be expecting our second child!

In the midst of all this excitement, I am still extremely anxious about everything. It stinks. Ive been this way since I was a child. Im always expecting the worst to happen. Lately Ive been worried about getting ill & not being available to my children. I can get fixated on one thing & worry about it for days even weeks. I know a lot of this anxiety is lack of trust in God. Ive been posting on this forum for a while & as many of you know my anxiety never really goes away! Im always posting about anxiety, worry, OCD…I went to therapy & it helped a little bit.

Where does this lack of trust & faith in God come from? I love the Lord & believe in him 100%. What in the world is missing from my life. I desire PEACE & want this anxiety to go away. Im sorry to be a burden & always post about my problems. I appreciate the support I get here & love talking to each of you!

Peace… and first off, know that this is very very common…

Also, please attack this difficulty from 2 different sides… both through faith, and through medical advice.

When anxiety, depression, and OCD conditions become abnormal, it becomes a medical issue.

Just because it’s a “mental” illness doesn’t mean you only have to deal with it on a psycological or faith level… there ARE safe treatments during pregnancy. I would first examine non-prescription treatments (therapy, fish oil supplements, etc), and then be open to prescription medications if necessary… again, there are safe ones out there during pregnancy.

If you were a diabetic, would you not take your insulin shots SIMPLY because you had “faith” that God would heal you?

A mental illness needs to be treated in a similar fashion… it’s an imbalance of chemicals in your brain… not something you can simply “think your way through”…

God bless and know you’re not alone… you’ll be in my prayers…

Congratulations on the baby!!! :clapping: That is so great.

I’ve had trouble with anxiety all my life. I do believes some is caused by biochemical reactions in the brain and some is a spiritual problem.

The best answer is prayer. And, just giving it over and over to Jesus. Trusting Divine Providence is a wonderful thing to develop. It might help to write down all the ways that God has taken care of you when you were anxious.

Every morning, offer everything to Him. And, try to thank Him for things that ordinarily you wouldn’t thank Him for. One of the most moving prayers I ever heard from a woman was when she thanked God for the few months she had with her babies before miscarriages. Wow!

I will be praying for you tonight.

Years ago I learned from a priest who deals with lot of inner healings that our past experiences, especially experiences in our ealy life could cause unknown anxieties. Even the way a baby was born could cause some anxiety later in life. For example, a difficult delivey the baby experienced could make an impact on him and became the remote reason of his unknown anxiety.

I used to have unknown fears in my heart. I remember years ago, often in the early morning, without any reason, I would have a feeling of not knowing how to go on for the day. I later realized it had something to do with my childhood experience.

I overcome such unnecessary fear by getting really close to Jesus. With the help of the priest I mentioned above, I had a real deep encounter with our Lord. Ever since then, the unknown fear started to subside. It takes some time to overcome.
I suggest you to find a priest who gives counseling and perfoms inner healing to help you. The priest who helped me passed away in 1999.

Prayer definitely helps, but for such a case, you need to get experienced pastoral help. You need the anointed healing from a Holy Spirit filled person who knows how to pray the healing prayer over you.

God bless!

There is nothing wrong about feeling anxiety, but in that it creates more problems than it solves. Someone suggested it earlier, but be anxious only about what you can fix or change, and use the anxiety as a motivating force. There is absolutely no sense in having anxiety over problems beyond your ability to solve, and chances are these problems are also beyond your ability to create.

At Mass (at least in the modern Vulgate) there is an interesting thing added to the Our Father. “Deliver us us, Lord, from every evil, and *grant us peace * in our day. IN YOUR MERCY KEEP US FREE FROM SIN … AND **PROTECT US FROM ALL ANXIETY ** as we wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.”

If you pray to Jesus that He protects you from anxiety, then don’t blame Him if you still suffer it. Truly put your life into His hands, for He gave His life for you, so it’s only fair that you give some part of yours to Him.

CONGRATULATIONS! MAY OUR GOOD LORD BLESS YOU IN ALL YOUR JOYS:blessyou:

Maybe this will help…

“Dear Lord Jesus, please surround me (family/friends/or the particular person that you are praying for) with a perimeter of Your Love and Protection throughout the day today and everyday a hundred yards in all directions. Lord Jesus, render any demons that are there, or should try to come, deaf, dumb, and blind. Strip them of all weapons, illusions, armor, power, and authority. Disable them from communicating or interacting in any way. Bind, sever, and separate them, sending them directly to the foot of Your Cross without manifestation or harm to be dealt with by you Jesus. May Your Precious Blood cover me, the Holy Spirit fill me, Mary’s mantle of love and protection surround me, St. Joseph guide me, the Holy Angels and Saints guard and protect me from all unfortunate events. Protect me from fire, theft, flood, storms, ailments, and accidents of every sort, distress, hardship, curse, and all untoward things. I ask all this in your Name Lord Jesus and I thank and praise you. I love you. Alleluia. Amen!”

I just found this quote…**

Nothing is more destined to create deep-seated anxieties in people than the false assumption that life should be free from anxieties.–Fulton J. Sheen**

I’ve had trouble with anxiety in the past. This prayer helps me:

God grant me serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.

Figure out what you can do in any given situation and work on those things. Let everything else go. If you can’t change/prevent something then there is nothing you can do about it and worrying about it only hurts your life.

I wish I could explain how I learned to let go of things. Since I did I’ve been a much happier person.

I used to be extremely anxious. While I was in RCIA I began spending at least one hour per week (scheduled plus whatever additional I needed) with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. I had never felt such overwhelming peace and quiet (in my mind and heart) in my life! No matter what I did not miss my time with the Lord. I learned how to pray the rosary over a few months and when I began doing that in adoration, well I cannot even explain how wonderful it felt.

A couple of times I was so deeply restful that I feel like I must have fallen asleep. This is amazing for me because I used to be a police officer and we were trained that if you fall asleep or lose consciousness in a public place for any reason that you have lost control of your gun and could be killed. Needless to say, I'm not known for public napping! You don't have to know how to say any certain prayers to adore Our Lord in this manner. Just go to a church that has the Blessed Sacrament exposed in the monstrance and sit there. I know some people who do this every day after work just for 15 minutes or so to give all of their daily worries and cares to the Lord before heading home refreshed to their families.
