THE PRAYER
SAINT ANNE, BLESS MY FAMILY
My family is the heart of my life.
It is my little Church.
Saint Anne, guard the members of my family
against all physical and spiritual danger.

You lived in the presence of your husband Joachim
and your little daughter Mary.
Later, you welcomed your son-in-law, Saint Joseph,
and above all your beloved Grandson Jesus, our Saviour.

May your family inspire our families.
May we remain united in a deep mutual love.
If my family is broken by separation or divorce,
remain for us the Saint of tenderness and lead us to God.

Saint Anne, you were a spouse, a mother, and a grandmother;
bless all the members of my family.
Keep us faithful to the Lord.

May we remain attentive to the needs of other families.
Protect all families.

Amen.

PRAYER
FOR A SICK PERSON # 3
O Good St. Anne
you who cured the sick
and laid a healing hand upon the lame,
the blind, and the crippled,
look with compassion upon me in my trouble.

If it is not God’s Will to cure me,
give me strength to bear my burden
and offer it up to Him,
who suffered so much for me.

Give me grace to offer my sufferings
in union with Jesus’,
in reparation for my sins and those of others,
for the needs of this troubled world,
and for the release of the souls in purgatory.

O Good St. Anne, compassionate mother,
pray for your weary child.

Amen.

PRAYER TO ST. ANTHONY
FOR PROTECTION AGAINST DANGER
O Holy St. Anthony,
be our protector and defender.
Ask God to surround us with the Holy Angels,
so that we may emerge from every danger
in the fullness of health and well-being.
Guide our life journey,
so we will always walk safely together with you,
in God’s friendship.

Amen.

PRAYER OF SAINT AUGUSTINE OF HIPPO
For the Indwelling Of The Spirit
Holy Spirit,
powerful Consoler,
Sacred Bond of the Father and the Son,
Hope of the afflicted,
descend into my heart
and establish in it Your loving dominion.
Enkindle in my tepid soul the fire of Your Love
so that I may be wholly subject to You.
We believe that when You dwell in us,
You also prepare a dwelling for the Father and the Son.
Deign, therefore, to come to me,
Consoler of abandoned souls,
and Protector of the needy.
Help the afflicted,
strengthen the weak,
and support the wavering.
Come and purify me.
Let no evil desire take possession of me.
You love the humble and resist the proud.
Come to me,
glory of the living,
and hope of the dying.
Lead me by Your grace that I may always be pleasing to you.

Amen.

Almighty and Everlasting God,
You have given the human race
Jesus Christ our Savior as a model of humility.
He fulfilled Your Will by becoming Man
And giving His life on the Cross.
Help us to bear witness to You
By following His example of suffering
And make us worthy to share in His Resurrection.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son.

Amen.

A PRAYER FOR LENT

Dear Lord,

We are now in the holy season of Lent.
We begin to realize anew that these are the days of salvation,
these are the acceptable days.
We know that we are all sinners.
We know that in many things we have all offended Your infinite majesty.
We know that sin destroys Your life in us
as a drought withers the leaves and chokes the life from the land,
leaving an arid, dusty desert.
Help us now, Lord,
in our feeble attempts to make up for past sin.
Bless our efforts with the rich blessing of Your grace.
Make us realize ever more our need of penance and of mortification.
Help us to see,
in our ordinary difficulties and duties,
in the trials and temptations of every day,
the best opportunity of making up for past infidelities.
Every day we are so often reminded in field and wood,
in sky and stream,
of Your own boundless generosity to us.
Help us to realize that You are never outdone in generosity,
and that the least thing we do for You will be rewarded,
full measure, pressed down, shaken together, and flowing over.
Then we shall see, in our own souls,
how the desert can blossom,
and the dry and wasted land can bring forth the rich,
useful fruit that was expected of it from the beginning.

Amen.

These prayers by the way are from Creighton University…google it, and check out the great daily reflections, too…God bless.

The Third Week of Lent
Sunday

Loving Father,
So many times I turn away from you
and always you welcome me back.
Your mercy and love gives me confidence
Thank you for the invitation to share, fast and pray
so that you can form a new heart within me.
Your powerful compassion for my weaknesses
leads me to ask for mercy
and await with great hope the Easter joy you share with us.*

***The Third Week of Lent
Monday

Merciful God,
Free your Church from the sins of this world
and protect us from evil we see
and the evil we prefer to ignore.
We need your guidance, Lord
for we cannot do this alone.
Only with your help can we be saved.
Thank you for your desire to save us and love us. ***

*From a Lenten handbook I picked up from one of the local parishes in my area…

Almighty Father, your love never fails
In my darkest moments, you wait to embrace me and
give me new life again. Turn my steps away from sin and
show me the way home to You. Amen. *

*The Third Week of Lent
Tuesday

God of infinite love,
I thank you for this reminder of your love
and your call that we be more patient,
gentle and compassionate with others.
Here in the middle of Lent,
I turn to you to beg for your help.
Please soften my heart.
Help me to let go of judging others.
I ask you this, in Jesus’ name. *

*The Second Week of Lent
Thursday

Loving God,
I hear your invitation, “Come back to me”
and I am filled with such a longing to return to you.
Show me the way to return.
Lead me this day in good works I do in your name
and send your Spirit to guide me and strengthen my faith.
I ask only to feel your love in my life today.

From Fulton J. Sheen

God our Father, cleanse our eyes of the dazzle brought on by the attraction of false appearances. Instead, this Lent, give us the vision to see people and things as they truly are. May our sacrifices contribute to our clarity of purpose and vision.

Amen.

Day 31 - from Fulton J. Sheen

With Saint John Chrysostom, let us contemplate the “many wrongs that the cross has set right”, and pray: Dear Lord, even by prayer and penance we cannot fathom the inscrutable way of the cross, but we seek faith that you will deliver us from our sins and rescue us from our wrongheadedness.

Amen.

Day 39 - from Fulton J. Sheen

God of Eternal Wisdom, give us the strength to die to our sinful
selves, to the ugly feelings, the discord of our daily lives so that we
may live in kindness, good will, and charity in word and deed.
Unbind our eyes so that we recall our blindness to our own sins,
lest we forget the death that our sinfulness has caused you. Grant
us growth in detachment from the evils of existence here on earth
and give us instead the strength to be your steadfast disciples
standing beneath the cross.

Amen.
