I am a little confused by this! Isn’t the point of adoration to be in the physical presence of God?

Yeah that seems confusing to me as well.

I am posting to see what others have to say.

I don’t know if it’s really considered adoration to be staring at the Host on a webcam, but to me, it’s kind of like having access to someone dear to you by seeing His live image.

Reminds me of how my dad made me get a webcam so we could see each other when I went to college.

I don’t get it either. Why not just print out a picture and look at it?🤷

This is the kind of thing, methinks, that lends evidence to the minds of non-Catholics that we worship idols.

***HELLO !!! ***

Remember the injured, the homebound, the disabled ???

For some of us, this is the closest we can get !!!
i am sorry i just did not understand.
have you talked to your parish priest?
i know that sometimes in our diocese the bishop gives permission for priests to make rounds with the blessed Sacrament to the homebound for Holy Communion and about half an hour of Adoration.
There goes their saturdays! 😉

(Sorry if I “yelled” at you. 😊 I think it’s wonderful that you are a faithful and Catholic teenager.)

I have never heard of anything like that. You must live in a great Diocese. Through CAF, I’ve learned that the culture in your area is heavily Catholic.

Here, well, with the priest shortage and everything, if I asked a priest to come for a half hour of Adoration, they would probably laugh. There is, however, thank God, an EMHC who comes on Sunday to bring me Holy Communion.

God bless.

I was a bit dismayed to read the negative reactions to this wonderful website, Savior.org. I love coming to this website to view a live image of our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. It is very comforting to me.

Catholic Culture gives Savior.org an excellent rating in all four Fidelity categories: orthodoxy, obedience, fortitude and prudence. You can read more here:
catholicculture.org/culture/reviews/view.cfm?recnum=2651&repos=2&subrepos=0&searchid=346026

And here is a description of Savior.org:

Savior.org’s mission is to increase awareness and devotion to our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament. It also seeks to bring the live image of His living Presence to the homebound, the workplace, and to remote areas around the world. This is done by means of a live webcam at the chapel of the Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.”

“The site itself features sections on the Eucharist and saints and blesseds. In addition there is an excellent section of devotions one may use while spending time in adoration online. You may also leave your petitions for the sisters who spend much of their lives before the Blessed Sacrament. This is a wonderful place to visit if you are confined to a desk at the office or sick and homebound.”

Because a picture isn’t the same thing as a live image…🙂
Exactly - it’s like saying printing out a picture of your mother is the same thing as seeing her live on a webcam. 🤷

It serves the same purpose as a televised Mass - enabling those who are housebound or ill or otherwise can’t access Adoration (like me at 2am - aint’ no perpetual adoration chapels anywhere near enough) to participate in spirit in a small way.
