Online Confession?

A very strange article on online confession. I, for one, do not agree with online confession and believe that people should actually go to a priest, but I see the other side. Although confession is necessary, is there something wrong with online confessions for less severe sins that do not need to be confessed? Or must all confessions be to a priest. I see both sides, but I think that it is necessary to go to confession in person.

It’ll probably happen when we have on-line Eucharist, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Matrimony, Baptism, Confirmation, and the Sacrament of the sick. (said with tongue planted firmly in cheek)

Online confession, brought to you by the same people who brought you “church” on TV. A bunch of garbage. Grace flows from God though his people, not though fiber optic cables.

All the sacraments, to be valid, must be personal. Jesus never got someone to send a messenger to the Apostles on Holy Thursday to tell them that the bread was His body and the wine was His blood and to eat and drink in His memory - instead He gathered with them in person and told them these things.

For one thing - God knows how lazy we are. How many do you think would bother to go to His house where He is living in His fullest realest presence in the Tabernacle if we could watch on TV or listen online? For that matter, how would we receive the Eucharist which we all so sorely need to help us during the week?
 
In order for a confession to be valid, it has to be in person with a priest and the penitent has to have genuine contrition. We all know that.

Without reading the link in detail, I seriously doubt that was by Catholics. But it does tell me the need of confession in human nature. It also once again tells me how blessed we Catholics are to have the Sacrament of Confession in the Church!

The idea of online confession probably was initiated by non-Catholics who have the need of pouring out their guilt but no means of doing it properly like Catholics.
 
It drive me nuts when I hear Catholics whine, “I don’t get anything out of Confession,” :banghead: when it’s obvious that there verily is a need of confession in human nature as InLight247 said in the above post. And, how many times I’ve read questions in the CAF forum and on the EWTN forum from non-Catholics who ask if they can go to Confession!

Why some Catholics don’t get it, I’ll never understand.
