I am looking for online (re: free) sources of the mass parts to play at home for the little one. (In English) The Gloria, The Lamb of God, Holy, Holy, Holy, Our Father, popular hymns, etc. Do you know any place to visit? (I already have all the John Michael Talbot songs)

It’s been a while and I’ve not yet received an answer to this question. (Didn’t find any at the previous links, though I thank you.) Anyone else know where I might find the mass prayers online?

usccb.org/nab/

has the daily readings.

As for the music, that’s a lot harder.

I did find this site:
cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

For the words of the Ordinary, see cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Ordinary_of_the_mass

It is a secular site for choral music, and to use it to its best, you should be familiar with some composers. You can search for Latin text on the “text and translations” pages. You will need at least Adobe Reader; and/or two music reading programs. (See the help file.)

But the fact that it’s choral music separates it from the OCP, if you dislike their stuff as much as I do!

I must tell you, though, I had a hard time actually getting to the sheet music. 😦

You can also find sites for Gregorian Chants.

Good luck!

My dear Mr. or Ms. Pine,

I would be more than happy to provide you with about a dozen different versions, including Jubilate Deo (the Church’s recommended latin Mass), Mass in “F” (latin again, by Bach), Kanedo’s “Mass of Compassion”, Inwood’s Mass, Walker’s “Celtic Mass”, Hurd’s “Mass of Glory”, and of course, the ever popular “Mass of Creation” by Marty Haugen, just to name a few.

As a Cantor and trainer of cantors, I find the most difficult part of the Mass sung parts is to get beyond the singing, which most participants can do, and get to the prayer, which many can’t even begin to comprehend and yet, the ministry of Cantor is about prayer and leading prayer through song, not about singing.

If it’s the sung versions you are looking for, perhaps the items I supply my students for study would suffice. If it’s sheet music you seek, PM me and we’ll consult.

Best wishes for the new year,

Richard

ps: for some reason, I never saw this when it was orginally posted which may account for the lack of overall response.

The Choral Public Domain Library is a GREAT site. And now that its a wiki page its even better.

Just in case you miss the link however, here’s a link for simple Gregorian chants in ordinary notation.

pucpr.edu/diocesis/14Cantoralg.html

In Latin (but you can transalate it into English maybe?)It has the most common chants (sequences, some propers, etc.) the usual Marian antiphons and three mass settings .

For those inclined to Gregorian Chant, here is a link to some mp3 files that you can download for free.
