Hi Barb. Reminds me of the old hymn… “The Holy City”. The lyrics go like this…

God bless… 🙂
Thank you very much indeed, Maria Veronica…what a beautiful hymn and a new one to me. I thought I would post it in full - it is very beautiful…it takes one into the Passion and beyond it to the great joy of Easter and to the the new Heaven and the new earth - The New Jerusalem that will never pass away…“and I saw a new Heaven and a new earth”
[Apocalypse 21 (Douay-Rheims Bible, Apocalypse (Revelation) Chapter 21)
"1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth. For the first heaven and the first earth was gone, and the sea is now no more."
The 21st. Chapter of The Apocalypse or Book of Revelations is the second last book of The Bible and full of great Promise and richness :

The Holy City
Music by Michael Maybrick
Original lyrics by Frederick E. Weatherly - 1892

Revelation 21:2
“And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem,
coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as
a bride adorned for her husband.”

Last night I lay a sleeping there came a dream so fair,
I stood in old Jerusalem beside the temple there.
I heard the children singing and ever as they sang,
Me thought the voice of angels from heaven in answer rang.
Me thought the voice of angels from heaven in answer rang.
  • Refrain
  • Jerusalem! Jerusalem!
    Lift up your gates and sing,
    Hosanna in the highest!
    Hosanna to your King!
    And then me thought my dream was changed, the streets no longer rang,
    Hushed were the glad Hosannas the little children sang.
    The sun grew dark with mystery, the morn was cold and chill,
    As the shadow of a cross arose upon a lonely hill.
    As the shadow of a cross arose upon a lonely hill.
  • Refrain
  • Jerusalem! Jerusalem!
    Lift up your gates and sing,
    Hosanna in the highest!
    Hosanna to your King!
    And once again the scene was changed; new earth there seemed to be;
    I saw the Holy City beside the tideless sea;
    The light of God was on its streets, the gates were open wide,
    And all who would might enter and no one was denied.
    No need of moon or stars by night, or sun to shine by day;
    It was the new Jerusalem that would not pass away.
    It was the new Jerusalem that would not pass away.
  • Refrain
  • Jerusalem! Jerusalem!
    Lift up your gates and sing,
    Hosanna in the highest!
    Hosanna to your King!
    Hosanna in the highest!
    Hosanna to your King!
