Its more likely everyone’s Priests will come from India, Africa and south east Asia

He said homosexual behavior not persons, as one factor among many.

How is the poster responsible for things that happened in the seminary? (or whatever you are trying to say)

How was the poster you were replying to arguing against personal responsibility? I’m sure he would agree.

He’s blaming homosexuals (err…homosexual actions) for something he sees as a problem. Would love to see Catholics take some responsibility for once.

He is listing factors that contributed to the toxic culture of the national seminary. Active homosexuals should not have been there and that was one of the problems. The heterodox teachers should not have been there either. The bishop should have cleaned house. That is what is seeing.

Sir, your bitterness is really unattractive. If you want to stay and learn as your profile says, I suggest you stop taking people’s posts out of context in order to crap on Catholics. And if you’ve never seen a Catholic take personal responsibility, then you haven’t known many Catholics or at least haven’t known them well.

Thanks you. With this scandalous situation, it is very sad there is ONLY one diocesan seminary in Ireland. It left no choice…

And it is not reassuring at all for the future of the Church!

In which way is it blaming to address this Problem when it occurs? He didn’t said “the gays are responsible for the abuse scandal” , he said that there’s a problem with homosexual sinning in this particular institution.

You seem to think that we aren’t able to differentiate between homosexual sinning and other sinning within the church crisis. I think we are, but it’s a fact both is a current problem. I personally know some german guys from my childhood days who endured abuse from catholic institutions, as well as I know a case of a priest who was removed because of producing gay pornography. Both is part of the church crisis.

That, and the fact that in both countries the Church has done very little to fight back. You should see the present set of bishops in Germany. They pretty much tow the government’s line on all questions and do very little to explain Church positions or obstruct secularization.

Interesting to see my replies getting flagged and removed.

What I get so frustrated about is the continual blaming of others (especially homosexuals) when we should be focused on ourselves, the leadership, and holding those responsible accountable. Why is the Church shrinking, and so many being harmed? It’s not the gays, it’s the Church (us).

It was very upsetting to hear the news report of the people of Ireland talking about the Pope’s visit. they seemed to view Ireland as modern and progressive. I think only 25 seminarians is a sad reflections of these people’s views. I felt it heart breaking to see people all smiles over the yes vote recently and I see this sort of ‘modernism’ is filtering into the priest intake. Still we can’t lose hope 25 is better than none, God bless them, may the bring back all the lost sheep of Ireland so that by the next Papal visit there be great delight in his visit just like for John Paul 2 and the intake of priests get more and more each year. To be fair I don’t think England’s number is higher. Our diocese this year (or season? not sure how often intake is) was 1 to my knowledge (diocesan newspaper) and we are grateful for him.

We do not have the priests to spare. The US Church imports priests from India, Nigeria, many other countries.
