Have you ever prayed for someone else? If you have then why? According to 1 Timothy only Christ intercedes for us.
You know, at first I thought the whole argument against intercessory prayer was really baseless. I could not understand why if you ended up in heaven you would suddenly be cut off from caring about or being connected to your loved ones. But then it hit me yesterday. If you ended up in heaven, and KNEW you had loved ones that would NEVER be there, it would make sense for God to take away or wipe out all memory of them entirely. In fact, he may as well wipe out all of your memory of all loved ones, saved or not, because you would or could be distracted thinking about them and not paying attention to your worshipping for eternity.
How odd, do you pray for other people? Do you ask other people to pray for you? Why do that when you can just go through Jesus? Please be consistent with your argument.
I think some of the misunderstanding on Communion of Saints is with the word “pray”.As Catholics,we do not pray to Saints as if they are the soarce of healing or whatever we’re asking for.Jesus is the person from which Blessings,Graces and Healings come from.We ask saints to pray with us and for us.Scripture tells us when we are sick,to call the elders,have them Anoint us with Oil,Pray for us etc.Scripture tells us Saints in heaven rejoice oven a sinner who repents.2Macc.15 tells of a vision Maccabeus has of Onias(the High Priest)and Jerimiah(the Prophet)fervantly praying(interceding for his people).You can’t take one scripture and build a doctrine around it.We must view Sacred Scripture as a whole based on what our Lord taught.
Huh? Is that an insider joke? What does the fact that almost anything can be an idol have to do with this topic? (I guess I’m lost on this one…)
Then why does St Paul say a few verses before hand at 1 Tim 2:1 "I desire therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, **intercessions **and thanksgivings be made for all men
Actually, according to the writings of St Catherine of Sienna, it is just the opposite that is true. Not only do those in heaven still remember those they loved on earth, but they love them more perfectly in heaven because now they love as God loves. They Love as God Loves and want their Loved ones still on earth to achieve heaven as well. However they also want God’s Justice to be served. So those in heaven who see any that they loved on earth go to hell for their evil deeds and rejection of God are satisifed.
Epistle of St James, kicks that out the wall quite quickly, the Epistle of St James tells us we are justified by faith AND works, as does the teaching of the Church for the past 2000 years
Mediator? thats what 1 Timothy 2:5 says, Mediator would be the way to God, not intercessions, just the way to salvation, intercessions are different, i bet you pray for your friends and family, as do i, we are interceding for them.

Father I pray along with Mother Mary, the Saints and anyone else here who may join me in prayer to send the Holy Spirit to Truthseeker, that he may have his eyes opened to understand your Word to us your Children in a better way, Father I pray that Truthseeker will read complete chapters and not pick your Wonderful Words apart verse by verse, May the Holy Spirit open a whole new world to him as he truely leans to read your message to us, your children, with Truth and Understanding.
Father my heart goes out to Truthseeker as he’s missing so much in your word by him thinking we can take a verse here and there, to try to make a “stand” of sorts on it. Father may you send the Holy Spirit to Truthseeker to guide him to understand, your Word was not written in single verses, but indeed as a continued writing by each Author of each book.
Father I ask along with Mother Mary, the Saints, My Brother’s and Sister’s who may join me in this prayer to touch Truthseekers heart, open his eyes to the real way your Word should be read and understood. May you stop the battle that his spirit and heart is going through with so many misunderstanding of your Word.

Cause we need all the prayers we can get? Christ is the only one that can intercede for us. Does that mean that others can not speak to him on our behalf?
What’s up truthmaker, I haven’t heard from you in a while.
I think what this is saying is we can pray for others but only to Christ, not to anyone eles but Christ. Interceding for someone is different. Its still man praying to Christ not anyone eles.
I can ask you to pray for me, and I can ask Mary or another saint to pray for me. There is no difference.
Rev Kevin, this is exactly what Catholics do we when ask the saints in heaven to pray for us to God. Do you agree that the saints in heaven are members of the body of Christ? Didn’t Paul say that as members of the body of Chirst we all need each other? When we pray to the saints we are asking them, as members of the body of Christ, to intercede for us just like I am going to ask you to intercede for me. Rev. Kevin will you pray for me?
